Two Syrian Boys Treated in Israel Hospital

Two Syrian boys were brought to a hospital in Israel overnight, both suffering from massive shrapnel wounds sustained during the bloody civil war which has gripped their homeland, a spokesman said on Wednesday.

According to a statement released by Ziv hospital in the town of Safed, one was a 15-year-old boy in serious condition who was suffering from multiple injuries all over his body.

"He sustained shrapnel wounds all over his body, fractures to his limbs and jaw, an open wound on the skull, and was suffering from massive blood loss," the hospital said, noting that he had undergone a stomach operation in Syria.

The second patient was a nine-year-old boy with shrapnel wounds all over his body, who had lost his right eye and had also undergone an operation in Syria, it said, describing his condition as moderate.

Another four Syrians are still being treated at the hospital, which is located in a hilltop town just north of the Sea of Galilee.

Two more Syrians were admitted to Israel overnight Tuesday for treatment, the army and medics said.

One was taken to Ziv while the second was taken to the Western Galilee Medical Center in the coastal town of Nahariya, which also treated an injured minor at the weekend.

The wounded are brought to Israel via the Quneitra crossing which lies on the ceasefire line in the Golan Heights, half of which is Syrian and the other half of which was seized by Israel in the 1967 Six Day War.
