Suleiman Cancels Vacation after Receiving 'Worrying Information' on Security Situation

President Michel Suleiman canceled a scheduled vacation in light of the recent security developments in Lebanon, reported al-Joumhouria newspaper on Monday.

It said that he canceled his plans after receiving “worrying information” on the security situation in the country from the Internal Security Forces.

He had also held talks on the situation with Army Intelligence chief Edmond Fadel on Saturday.

Suleiman hailed the security agencies for their efforts in apprehending suspects linked to various security incidents that had taken place in Lebanon in the past few months, hoping that the perpetrators of Thursday's Ruwais bombing will be uncovered.

The president was scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia on Sunday on a brief visit ahead of a holiday to Europe.

Thirty people were killed and 336 wounded in a bombing in Beirut's southern suburbs of Dahieh on Thursday.

On Saturday afternoon, security agencies seized a car filled with 250 kilograms of explosives near the municipality building in the Naameh region in southern Lebanon.

At least three people detained by the General Security Directorate confessed that they were planning to detonate the car in an undisclosed location in Lebanon.

God Bless you Mr. President for canceling your much needed vacation. Your decision to stay in Lebanon and take control of the security situation is much appreciated. We have many tranquil and restive spots in Lebanon specially in the South following the divine victory of 2006. The scenic southern villages enjoy calm, prosperity, and unprecedented development brought upon by the influx of clean money of ashraf el nass. I for one enjoy spending my yearly holidays in Ayta Al Foukhar overlooking the prairies of the Galilee. You should try it Sir.!

Money laundering and drug trafic... Robberies... car thefts... kidnapping for ransom... I am impressed with the work of those low life who label themselves "ashraf al nass"... and who are nothing but terrorist and scumbags...

UnitedLebanon has the backing and firepower to say what he pleases,after all they are our protectors and without them Lebanon would have been overrun by Takferis, Israelis and hippies.

This is an added sacrifice by our great good-for-nothing corrupt president-by-parachute who, for five and a half years, has been single-handedly tackling the Herculean task of removing the zeer from the beer. May God bless him and extend his term and our days of misery under his presidency forever and ever, amen.

If history does repeat itself then it is very simple advice I shall remind you Mr. president & that is the " Balfour " agreement , during the turn of the 20th century concerning Immigration of Jews at a rate of 7000 per month into Palestine . By the end of 1947 the Jewish immigrants were controlling the land of Palestine & even succeeded renaming it " Israel" .
Mr.president , repeat history , send ALL displaced Palestinians Refugees (such as the likes of the Jews ) to their rightful land which is The West Bank as a compromise , but as a gesture for the time being to the Israeli border , then leave the rest to the international community they will pressure the Israelis' as they he done in the past to the Palestinians , I will guarantee you that a safe passage will be provided to the West Bank , as for the Syrians' also place them onto the border with the Golan heights , it is their natural rights' to set up refuge on their land , the UN will back you a 100% .
Signed Wolf .

Well said Wolf.
The only problem in implementing your plan is that we do not have men with balls among our politicians... only greedy men with pockets that need filling

Are we not the LEBANESE ! A question to you LF ,CL, ROAR, SOUTHERN , HHEAD, B3, RFT, PHOENIX or even FT , & to all our Lebanese brothers on this site regardless of their affiliation , ask not which politician has the balls , the answer is simple .. None do !
But as the representative of the Lebanese Spectrum of our society you all including myself do have not only the balls but the right , the right to claim our country back from all the foreigners in our land causing pain , anguish , destabilising our well being living amongst each other as our forefathers have done for centuries . We all can not wait for any politicians anymore but act on our own instinct & drive these " non Lebanese" out of our land & back into theirs !
I as a Lebanese declare without prejudice or any racism support full expulsion of ALL Refugees to their natural homeland ie, Palestinians to the West Bank , the Syrians to the Golan Heights !
Signed Wolf !!!!

Start settling the refugees at THE ISRAELI BORDER from one end to another , of course on the Lebanese side . What would the Israelis do ? Surely they can't Nuke them ?
But this will apply the pressure required by the international community against Israel to accept all legitimate Palestinians back to the West Bank , how do you think the Jews were allowed to create the state as we know it today called Israel ? Exactly what I'm suggesting by forcing the UN or the International community to accept & bare responsibility by fixing the problem they helped created mid 20th century !
Signed Wolf .

@lebanonforever
These posts should be banned from Naharnet. They are very similar to speeches by Al Assir, full of poison and hate.
Do not think that you are smart or funny if you give names to Lebanese leaders (whether you like them or not).
In fact, such speeches lower the quality of Naharnet. I have raised this issue with them on several occasions, but they seem to be happy having such comments as yours above....
Alas, this is the quality of Lebanese conversation you hear everyday. I feel pity for you and people like you.

@wolf/Southern
A start would be to force our politicians to find/discuss the possibilities instead of watching passively inactively while our country is being invaded by foreigners

No worries, Mr. President. Farts 14 and Sanni First have taken the vacation instead, just like they do every time army officers and soldiers get slaughtered by their bearded abou ka7fet or innocent Iranians from Wilayat al-Faqih get butchered here at home. I heard they went to Sainte Lourdes, may she strengthen their love for life.
