President Michel Suleiman on Thursday announced that the U.N. Security Council must take action concerning the reported chemical attacks in Syria.
“We condemn the use of chemical weapons in Syria, but the Security Council must take the appropriate measures in this regard,” Suleiman was quoted by MTV as saying.
“They are trying to import into Lebanon the repercussions of the seditions hitting the region, but the response will be through further developmental projects, forming an inclusive cabinet, abiding by the Baabda Declaration and sitting around the dialogue table,” Suleiman added, according to MTV.
“We have paid a heavy price for our democracy, but we must not pay the price of the democracy of others,” the president said, saying the “obstruction” of the cabinet formation process is “not a democratic act.”
Suleiman stressed that “only the army must have weapons to defend the land and autonomous security is rejected.”
And as he confirmed that measures have been taken to “control the Syrian refugee influx,” the president said “they can boycott the president but they can't isolate him.”

Thank you president Suleiman. Thank you for Syria, the Syrians and mankind.

President Suleiman, brave words, now try and persuade the Russians and Chinese.

The thumbs down here just go to prove how many Lebanese think about the unity of their beloved country.

Awesome--thank you Mr. President for standing up for what is right and not what for the Hizb iran agenda.

Suleiman stressed that “only the army must have weapons to defend the land and autonomous security is rejected.”
