Gulf Cooperation Council's foreign ministers warned late Saturday that Hizbullah's continued involvement in the Syrian war was threatening the Geneva peace conference.
Following a consultative meeting they held in Manama, the ministers condemned in a statement “the continued involvement of Hizbullah's militias” in Syria.

A three-day parliamentary session set by Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday will likely fail to convene over the boycott of March 14 alliance blocs in addition to an inclination by the Change and Reform bloc not to attend.
An al-Mustaqbal bloc source told An Nahar daily published Sunday that its lawmakers will not participate in the session in compatibility with the rest of the March 14 members.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns arrived in Beirut on Sunday for talks with Lebanese officials, a few days after postponing his trip.
Burns, accompanied by a U.S. delegation, arrived in Beirut from Baghdad around 3:30 p.m., state-run National News Agency reported.

Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Asiri held on Saturday a dinner meeting with Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun at his residence in Rabieh, the Kuwaiti al-Rai daily reported.
The newspaper said Sunday that Asiri visited Aoun in a “remarkable step” after ties between the FPM chief and its ally Hizbullah had deteriorated.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati on Saturday questioned how the parliament “can take an independent decision to exercise all its constitutional rights in the presence of a caretaker cabinet.”
“It is not possible for the parliament to hold a legislative session and exercise all its constitutional rights when there is a caretaker cabinet,” Miqati stressed in a released statement in which he responded to Speaker Nabih Berri's press conference on Saturday afternoon.

The army command denied on Saturday that troops were held captive by the Free Syrian Army inside the neighboring country, after a video exchanged on social media websites portrayed soldiers arrested by the Syrian rebels.
“The video and the pictures shared online go back to September 16, 2012 when troops where ambushed by FSA fighters in (the northeastern town of) Arsal,” it said in a communique.

Two people were killed on Saturday and six others were wounded in clashes in the northern city of Tripoli after clashes erupted between al-Baqqar neighborhood and Jabal Mohsen.
One person was killed by an explosive device he was handling, a security source told Agence France Presse.

Speaker Nabih Berri said on Saturday that the parliament is in a constant state of session in an extraordinary manner with full jurisdictions after the cabinet resigned, saying that Monday's session is still on.
“We want to set things straight... No one can prevent it from legislating, ” Berri said in a press conference from Ain el-Tineh.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat lamented on Saturday the rise of extremism in Lebanon at the expense of moderation, stressing the need to combat it through backing the state and the army.
He said in a statement: “The recent developments demonstrate that the spread of arms cannot be tackled through more arms … but through the return to dialogue.”

Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam stressed on Saturday that the formation of a new government can't endure further delay.
“The formation of a new cabinet has become a pressing issue given the people's concerns over their country's future,” Salam said via twitter.
