But a new website debuting Monday aims to take the focus from past to future by asking people of all ages — even those who weren't alive when Kennedy died — to share their thoughts about how he has inspired them.
The website is part of the JFK Library and Museum's commemoration of the 50th anniversary of JFK's death, which is Friday. The museum also plans an exhibit of never-before-displayed items from his three-day state funeral, including the flag that draped his casket and notes written by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.

Dozens of tornadoes and intense thunderstorms swept across the U.S. Midwest on Sunday, killing at least five people, causing extensive damage in several Illinois communities and darkening downtown Chicago.
An elderly man and his sister were killed when a tornado hit their home, said coroner Mark Styninger. Patti Thompson of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency confirmed three other deaths but did not provide details.

More than 16,000 Syrian refugees have crossed to Lebanon in the past two days fleeing a high-stakes battle, Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) reported Sunday.
The Syrians are walking across valleys and ridges to reach safety in Lebanon. They are packing into wedding halls and waiting for makeshift tents, said Bassel Hujeiri, former mayor of the border town of Arsal where most of the refugees have headed.
