Hizbullah Takes Umm Khorj Post as 3 Members Killed, 1 'Captured' in Qalamun

Hizbullah on Wednesday seized control of the so-called Umm Khorj post, from which militants launched their Sunday attack on the party's Ain Saa post in Brital's outskirts, amid reports that a Hizbullah fighter was “captured” in the Bqal al-Assal area in Syria's Qalamun.

In remarks to al-Jadeed TV, a Hizbullah source confirmed that his group had taken Umm Khorj, noting that “it was the launchpad for al-Nusra (Front's) gunmen on Sunday and it strategically overlooks Assal al-Ward's mountains.”

March 14 Hits Back at FPM, Accuses It of 'Supporting Militias'

The March 14 forces on Wednesday condemned “the attempt by terrorist factions coming from Syria to enter Lebanon,” saying they should be confronted by the Lebanese army, while accusing the Free Patriotic Movement of “supporting militias” instead of state institutions.

In a statement issued after its weekly meeting, the March 14 General Secretariat said it deplores “the attempt by terrorist factions coming from Syria to enter Lebanon through the northern Bekaa region and it considers it a blatant violation of national sovereignty.”

Qassem Says Shebaa Blast 'Message to Israel', Brital Attack 'Total Failure' for Militants

Hizbullah deputy chief Sheikh Naim Qassem on Tuesday described the bomb attack that targeted an Israeli patrol in the occupied Shebaa Farms as a message that is “addressed exclusively to Israel,” although it came two days after fierce battles with jihadist militants in Brital's outskirts.

“The bombs were detonated based on the movements of the enemy's troops and this means that the resistance is ready and its eyes are open,” Qassem said in an interview on OTV.

Hizbullah Backs Syrian Army in Assal al-Ward, Says Prevented IS from Invading Beirut

Hizbullah was engaged on Tuesday in clashes alongside the Syrian army against Syrian rebels and al-Nusra Front in the Syrian town of Assal al-Ward near Lebanon's border, a few days after it repelled a major militant assault against Brital's outskirts.

“Clashes are underway between the gunmen and the Syrian regime army, which is being backed by Hizbullah, in Assal al-Ward and al-Jibbeh near Lebanon's eastern border,” LBCI TV reported.

Change and Reform Slams Geagea, March 14, Says 'Terrorists Plotting Military Act'

The Change and Reform parliamentary bloc on Tuesday strongly criticized the stances of March 14's general secretariat and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on the recent clashes in Brital, warning that “the terrorists could be plotting a new military operation.”

“We are now facing two 'forbidden things' -- it is forbidden to respond against terrorism outside Lebanon to fend off the threats and it is forbidden to respond from inside Lebanon,” the bloc said sarcastically in a statement issued after its weekly meeting, referring to Hizbullah's intervention in Syria and its latest battle against jihadist militants in the outskirts of the Bekaa border town of Brital.

Kataeb Calls for a 'Major Operation' to Close The Eastern Border, Protect It

Hizbullah repulsed on Sunday an attack by al-Nusra Front on ten of its positions and they didn't lose any of their positions, but Ain Saat for more than an hour.

Hizbullah managed to thwart the attack on its other positions. Eight of its fighters were killed, while al-Nusra Front stated that it attacked a position and killed eleven fighters of Hizbullah.

Two Men Kidnapped in Retaliation to Arsal Captives Released in Hawr Taala

Two men from the northeastern border town of Arsal were set free after a three-day kidnap ordeal by gunmen from al-Masri family to press the release of soldier Ali Zeid al-Masri, who is held captive along with other soldiers and policemen by Islamist militants.

'Syrian Army' Clashes with Gunmen in Arsal Plains as Rockets Hit al-Labweh

Clashes erupted on Monday evening between Syrian forces and armed groups in the outskirts of the Bekaa town of Arsal as two rockets landed in and around the town of al-Labweh.

“The sounds of artillery shells and rocket-propelled grenades are being heard in the towns of northern Bekaa due to clashes between the Syrian army and takfiri militants in the Wadi al-Raayan area in Arsal's plains,” Lebanon's National News Agency said.
