Israel's population is now more than 8.2 million, the Central Bureau of Statistics said on Monday, releasing new figures on the eve of Jewish New Year.
The numbers show that Israel has 8,252,500 inhabitants -- 6,186,100 Jews (75 percent), 1,709,900 Arabs (20.7 percent) and 356,500 others (4.3 percent).

Kenyan police said on Monday that two Iranians arrested in Nairobi last week carrying fake Israeli passports are being treated as illegal migrants.
"They will be charged by the immigration authorities for being in the possession of forged passports," John Mulaulu, acting head of the anti-terrorism police unit, told AFP.

Scores of Palestinians who were rearrested by Israel after being freed in a prisoner exchange are to stage a hunger strike Tuesday as truce talks resume in Cairo, officials said.
The Ramallah-based Prisoners' Club said Monday the strike will be observed by 63 prisoners who were among a group of 1,027 freed by Israel under the terms of a 2011 swap arrangement.

The U.N.'s Palestinian refugee agency on Sunday urged the international community to oppose Israeli plans to relocate thousands of Palestinian Bedouin from the central West Bank.
"If such a plan were implemented this would ... give rise to concerns that it amounts to a 'forcible transfer' in contravention of the Fourth Geneva Convention," banning involuntary population relocation in occupied territory, UNRWA Commissioner General Pierre Krahenbuhl said.

Authorities in Kenya said Friday they have arrested two men believed to be Iranian nationals transiting through the east African nation on fake passports.
