Israel reiterated concerns that the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad might transfer its chemical weapons to Hizbuulah, urging the international community to prevent such an act.

Scores of Palestinians tried to return on Tuesday to a protest outpost they set up outside Jerusalem from which they were evicted at the weekend, activists and Israeli police said.
Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said a group of protesters had tried to make their way to a hilltop near Maaleh Adumim settlement where they had pitched around 20 tents last Friday before being forced to leave two days later.

Military Examining Magistrate Imad al-Zain demanded on Tuesday the death penalty for a Lebanese army soldier for collaborating with Israel, the sate-run National News Agency reported.
According to the news agency, the Lebanese soldier, identified by his initials as D. G., fled the military service in 2009 and investigations revealed that he was collaborating with Israel in 2005-2006.

A Palestinian teenager was on Tuesday shot dead by Israeli troops in the northern West Bank, not far from the separation barrier, Palestinian medical and security sources told Agence France Presse.
Samir Ahmed Awad, 17, died after being hit by a bullet to the chest and another to the leg in an area not far from the village of Ras Karkar, some 10 kilometers (about six miles) northwest of Ramallah, they said.

The Palestinian Authority on Monday slammed a pre-election visit by hardline Israeli nationalist leader Avigdor Lieberman to a West Bank mosque as a "provocation" and "completely unacceptable."
"This visit is a provocation to Palestinian feeling," government spokeswoman Nour Odeh told Agence France Presse. "Especially by Lieberman, who has declared his aggression against the Palestinian people and who supports settlement."

Health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra earlier identified the man as Mustafa Abu Jirad, a 21-year-old farmer, saying he was shot in the head near Beit Lahiya, in an area near Gaza's border with Israel.
