A cargo van caught fire in the southern town of al-Mansouri on Monday after being struck by a percussion bomb dropped by an Israeli quadcopter, the National News Agency said.

Former Central Bank governor Riad Salameh was transferred Monday to the Daher al-Bashek Hospital, located just minutes from Roumieh Prison, after his health deteriorated, a judicial source said.

The source told the al-Modon news portal that Salameh's health had rapidly worsened in recent hours, particularly his blood pressure, which necessitated his transfer to Daher al-Bashek Hospital to prevent any further health complications that could be life-threatening.

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa said Monday he is encouraged that U.S.-sponsored talks between Lebanon and Israel remain ongoing in Rome, as he hoped the talks would reach a successful outcome.

"A great deal of technical work remains to ensure civilian safety on the ground," Issa posted on the embassy's X platform, adding that there is "a meaningful difference between drafting an agreement on paper and implementing it responsibly.

President Joseph Aoun on Monday urged the judiciary to issue a long-awaited indictment over the 2020 Beirut port blast, on the eve of the catastrophe's sixth anniversary.

"The issuing of the indictment by the investigating judge has become a necessity that can no longer be delayed," Aoun said in a statement.

The United Nations has expressed concern over Israel's ongoing demolitions in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire in its war with Hezbollah.

"The scale of the detonations and demolitions taking place in south Lebanon is deeply concerning, with a devastating impact on civilian infrastructure, cultural heritage, and the collective memory of communities," the office of the U.N. special coordinator for Lebanon said in a statement.

The Israeli military said on Saturday that it killed several Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon and that an Israeli soldier was injured there despite a ceasefire.

Jean Arnault, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL), has congratulated the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and its Commander, servicemen and servicewomen on the occasion of the eighty-first Army Day, stressing that the army has "earned the pride of the nation and the trust of the international community."

President Joseph Aoun has warned that Israeli detonations near a UNESCO-listed castle  threatened a recent deal with Israel, which in turn said it had razed Hezbollah tunnels there.

Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported that "Israeli forces triggered very powerful explosions" overnight, specifically "in the area of the Beaufort fortress", a Crusader-era castle located near the southern border occupied by Israel.

Former central bank governor Riad Salameh was placed under police guard in hospital on Friday, a day after missing a hearing in an alleged embezzlement case, a judicial official told AFP.

The Lebanese delegation to the upcoming Rome talks with Israel will include members of the military delegation that had participated in one of the Washington meetings prior to the signing of the framework agreement, al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Friday.
