A hospital director in Lebanon has denied accusations by the Israeli army that Hezbollah is storing money and gold under the hospital.

Fadi Alameh, a member of parliament who is also the director of Sahel General Hospital, denied there are tunnels under the hospital and said that the medical center south of Beirut is now being evacuated.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said Monday that the atomsphere of his meeting with U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein was "good and positive more than he was expecting," MTV reported.

Police stormed an abandoned building in Beirut’s commercial district, Hamra, to evict hundreds of displaced by Israel’s war, who have been squatting there for weeks.

Lebanese authorities have prepared hundreds of shelters to accommodate the displaced. But as their numbers climbed to nearly 20% of the population, or an estimated 1.2 million people, official shelters have not been able to cope.

An Israeli strike on the main eastern city of Baalbek killed six people including a child Monday, with state media reporting it hit a building in a densely-packed residential area.

"The Israeli enemy strike... in Baalbek killed six people, including a child," the Lebanese health ministry said, and the state-run National News Agency reported that all six were from the same family.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday proposed to visiting U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein ideas for resolving the current Israel-Hezbollah conflict, a media report said.

Israel gave the U.S. a document last week with its conditions for a diplomatic solution to end the war in Lebanon and allow displaced civilians from both sides of the border to return to their homes, two U.S. officials and two Israeli officials told U.S. news portal Axios.

French President Emmanuel Macron called once again for a cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, the Elysee Palace said in a statement.

Macron said the elimination of Hamas’ top leader Yahya Sinwar last week in Gaza “must be an opportunity to begin a new phase of negotiation” for a cease-fire, the release of hostages and the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein said Monday that he held a "very constructive" meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh and that the U.S. is working with Lebanon and Israel on a "formula that brings an end to this conflict once and for all."

Hochstein added that U.N. resolution 1701 is “no longer enough” and that a new mechanism must be put in place to ensure it is implemented “fairly, accurately, transparently.”

Germany on Monday demanded Israel "clarify every incident" involving the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Lebanon and urged it to investigate the destruction of a UNIFIL observation tower.

U.N. peacekeepers on Sunday said an Israeli "army bulldozer deliberately demolished" an observation tower and fence of a U.N. position in southern Lebanon, where the army is fighting Hezbollah.

Hezbollah said it repeatedly targeted Israeli troops in south Lebanon border villages over several hours on Monday, saying at least one of the attacks caused "certain casualties".

Hezbollah fighters targeted "a gathering of Israeli enemy soldiers on the eastern outskirts of the village of Markaba" with three separate rocket salvos, it said, adding one of the attacks caused "certain casualties" and that its fighters also targeted Israeli troops attempting "to evacuate the dead and wounded".
