Beirut port blast lead investigator Judge Tarek Bitar will receive the public prosecution’s assessment of his draft indictment in the next few days, which paves the way for the issuance of the long-awaited indictment, MTV reported on Monday.

It said that the review will be sent to Bitar by Attorney General Judge Mohammad Saab and that Bitar will issue the indictment before the end of the year.

President Joseph Aoun will hold a summit with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and King Abdullah II of Jordan ahead of a Paris meeting that will prepare for the Lebanese Army support conference, media reports said.

The summit will tackle the situations in Lebanon and the region and the ongoing conflicts, after which the preparatory conference will take place, the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper said.

Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency, which is close to the Revolutionary Guard, has denied reports suggesting that members of the Revolutionary Guard had been trapped in the tunnels of the Ali al-Taher ridge in south Lebanon prior to Israel’s seizure of the strategic area.

The agency clarified that the two tunnels in Ali al-Taher contained 48 Hezbollah operatives during the battles for control of the hill, noting that eight of the Lebanese fighters were killed.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stressed that Israel will not leave the so-called security zone, nor will it withdraw or redeploy its forces in southern Lebanon, until Hezbollah is disarmed across the country.

In a statement, Katz noted that the Ali al-Taher heights are part of the "Yellow Line" and the Israeli security zone in Lebanon, explaining that the Israeli army has prepared to prevent any attempt by Hezbollah -- or any other party -- to return to the Ali al-Taher ridge.

Free Patriotic Movement chief Gebran Bassil on Monday marked on his X platform account the 44th anniversary of the assassination of president-elect Bashir Gemayel.

“Bashir was martyred because he refused encroachment on Lebanon the 10,452 square kilometers, and this is also our cause,” Bassil added.

Israel's demolition on Thursday of a tunnel network used by Hezbollah as a command center in southern Lebanon, near the border, represents a significant setback for the Iran-backed group.

Experts said that while Hezbollah is far from defeated, the group was now exposed after two fierce wars with Israel in which it suffered major blows including the loss of much of its top leadership and Israel's occupation of parts of southern Lebanon.

President Joseph Aoun on Sunday marked the the 44th anniversary of the assassination of president-elect Bachir Gemayel by saying that "he fell to the bullets of treachery before assuming his constitutional duties, ascending as a martyr upon the altar of the nation."

A group of men and children gathered at a vantage point overlooking their village in southern Lebanon, watching from a distance as Israeli drones descended, carrying boxes laden with explosives to be dropped on houses.

It has become a daily ritual for residents of Mansouri, who fled the village weeks ago and now are watching its destruction from the neighboring village of Hanniyeh.

President Joseph Aoun visited the country's south on Saturday morning, in a surprise trip to Nabatieh, a city close to a strategic Hezbollah position recently captured and blown up by Israel.

The next round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Rome has been delayed until October, a U.S. official said.
