Two people died when a plane carrying crew members from a film starring Tom Cruise crashed in Colombia, aviation authorities and Universal Pictures said.

Morsi Supporters Torch Three Churches in Egypt

Supporters of deposed Islamist president Mohammed Morsi torched three churches in central Egypt on Wednesday in reprisal attacks as police dispersed demonstrations in Cairo, reports said.

The assailants threw firebombs at Mar Gergiss church in Sohag, a city with a large community of Coptic Christians who comprise up to 10 percent of Egypt's 84 million people, causing it to burn down, the official MENA news agency said.

Egypt Signs $1 Billion Deal to Fund Energy, Food

Egypt on Sunday signed an accord with the Saudi-based Islamic Development Bank for $1 billion in funding for the purchase of energy and food products.

State news agency MENA said the deal was signed by International Cooperation Minister Faiza Abul Naga and an affiliate of the IDB, but the mechanism of the financing was not specified.

Egyptian security authorities on Monday detained a man suspected of spying for Hizbullah after he escaped detention during the January uprising, the official MENA agency said.

Hassan al-Manakhly, one of the 22-member Hizbullah cell, was arrested after making an appearance on a live talk show Sunday night in Cairo, MENA said.

MFO Says Israel Entered Egypt, Committed Violations

A monitoring force stationed in the Sinai in keeping with the 1979 peace treaty between Egypt and Israel said Israel violated it when its troops entered Egyptian territory and fired on security personnel, state news agency MENA reported on Saturday.

"The (Multinational Force and Observer) recorded two violations committed by Israel," the agency said, citing an MFO report.

Strong Blast Hits Egyptian Gas Pipeline

Saboteurs bombed an Egyptian gas pipeline in the Sinai Peninsula for the fourth time since February, cutting supplies to Israel and Jordan, the official MENA news agency reported Tuesday.

The blast occurred near the town of al-Arish in the north of the Sinai Peninsula, it said, adding that the ensuing "flames were up to 10 meters high.

Egyptian Fenugreek Seed Suspected in France, Germany E. coli

The European Food Safety Agency on Tuesday identified a batch of fenugreek seeds imported from Egypt as the likely suspect in the outbreaks of E. coli disease in both Germany and France.

An EFSA task force set up to track the possible source of the disease said it recommended in consequence that "all efforts be made to prevent any consumer exposure to the suspect seeds".
