At least nine Palestinians were killed overnight in strikes in Gaza, according to local hospitals, even as much of the world's attention was focused on the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The nine people were killed in at least four separate strikes in Gaza City, according to Shifa Hospital, which received the bodies.

The House for the first time Wednesday approved a war powers resolution that would halt the U.S. military action against Iran, defying President Donald Trump as a handful of Republicans joined with Democrats to end the three-month-long conflict that has reordered politics at home and abroad.

House Speaker Mike Johnson had tried to prevent an outcome that would show the mounting opposition to the war, abruptly shutting down floor action two weeks ago when the resolution was on the verge of approval. But displeasure has only grown as the conflict drags on and as Trump struggles to negotiate a plan for peace.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Wednesday that lines of communication with the United States were still open, but "no tangible progress" has been made in negotiations to end the Middle East war.

"Communications with the Americans have not been cut off, and messages have been exchanged regarding the need to stop aggression against Beirut, but no tangible progress has been made in the negotiation process," the Tasnim news agency quoted him as telling Lebanon's Al Mayadeen TV.

The fate of Iran's highly enriched uranium stockpiles is at the center of talks with Washington, and Tehran has not yet agreed to a peace deal, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday.

Washington insists that Iran must turn over its near-weapons-grade enriched uranium, agree to curb its nuclear activities and re-open the Strait of Hormuz for any peace agreement to take hold.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that Iran was "playing with fire" after the Islamic republic carried out an attack on Kuwait.

"Iran surely knows what the (U.S.) president has said, that if necessary, there'll be a full-scale return to military action," Netanyahu said in an interview with U.S. channel CNBC when asked if there was still a ceasefire following recent attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain.

President Joseph Aoun condemned Wednesday Iranian attacks on "civilian targets" in Kuwait and Bahrain.

The attack on Kuwait's airport wounded at least 63 people and killed an Indian national.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he "would like to meet" Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, in an interview published Wednesday.

"I would like to meet him, and we probably will meet at some point, depending on how it all works out," Trump told the New York Post's "Pod Force One".

The military adviser to Iran's supreme leader on Wednesday warned of more missile and drone strikes should the United States renew its attacks on Iran.

"Every shot fired and every attack will be met with a deluge of missiles and drones," Mohsen Rezaei posted on X, adding that "the aggressor will swiftly be punished".

A top Emirati official called on Wednesday for a united stance from the Gulf after renewed attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain that were blamed on Iran.

"In light of Iran's repeated aggression against the brotherly states of Kuwait and Bahrain, a firm, unified and cohesive Gulf stance is imperative. No Gulf state should be left to face these attacks alone, because the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is interconnected, their interests are shared, and their destiny is one and the same," said UAE presidential advisor Anwar Gargash in a post on X.

Kuwait on Wednesday said Iranian attacks on its territory killed one person and wounded several others, as well as forcing its airport to close and damaging unnamed diplomatic missions.

Kuwait's foreign ministry condemned the attacks "that once again targeted vital and civilian infrastructure, including Kuwait International Airport, killing one person and injuring others, in addition to causing damage to vital infrastructure including diplomatic missions".
