Lebanese state media said an Israeli drone strike on Thursday targeted a car on a key road linking the capital Beirut with the Bekaa plain and eastern neighbor Syria.

"An enemy drone targeted a car in Araya," the National News Agency said, adding the road had been cut off by the strike that comes after two cars were targets on the same route last week, including a van loaded with Hezbollah ammunition.

Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qasem said Wednesday his group has tens of thousands of combatants ready to fight Israel, in a speech marking 40 days since his predecessor Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli strike.

"We have tens of thousands of trained resistance combatants" ready to fight, he said, adding that nowhere in Israel was "off-limits" to the group’s attacks.

Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil has marked 40 days since Israel’s killing of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah by publishing a eulogy and political statement in al-Akhbar newspaper.

The caretaker Cabinet on Wednesday approved granting the Defense Ministry a treasury loan to recruit 1,500 soldiers for the Lebanese Army.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati had announced at the Oct. 24 Paris conference that his government had decided to recruit more troops and could deploy 8,000 soldiers in the south as part of a plan to implement a ceasefire and U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701.

Donald Trump has declared his victory in the U.S. presidential election in a televised speech, after Fox News, CNN and NBC said he won the key battleground state of Pennsylvania -- which has a whopping 19 votes in the Electoral College.

"We are going to help our country heal, we are going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help and it needs help very badly," Trump said in a speech to supporters in Florida.

Lebanese state media reported a strike on an apartment in the Jiye coastal area south of Beirut on Tuesday, more than a month into the Israel-Hezbollah war.

The Israeli army has been booby-trapping and destroying entire neighborhoods in cities and towns in south Lebanon, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has said that Israel is in a “strong position” to demand that Hezbollah withdraw from the area south of the Litani River.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Monday called on the “silent” international community to address “the Israeli enemy’s continued aggression against Lebanon and its crimes of killing and destruction.”

Mikati voiced his remarks in meetings with the ambassadors of the U.N. Security Council’s permanent members -- the U.S., the UK, France, Russia and China. He also met with the EU’s ambassador to Lebanon.

Lebanon's health ministry said one person was killed and 15 people were wounded Saturday in an Israeli strike on the Galerie Semaan area on the outskirts of Beirut's southern suburbs.
