Teen Survives Five-Hour Flight in Airplane Wheel

A 16-year-old boy was lucky to be alive Monday after surviving a flight from California to Hawaii in the wheel well of an airplane, U.S. media reported.

The young stowaway endured freezing temperatures and a lack of oxygen aboard the five-and-a-half hour Hawaiian Airlines flight, which reached an altitude of some 38,000 feet, an FBI official told the Los Angeles Times.

Woman Reunited with Dog, TV Snatched on 1st Date

A woman has been reunited with her Yorkshire Terrier and flat-screen TV that were snatched during her first date with a man she met online.

The woman called police early Saturday to say that her dog, Violet, had been tied by its leash to the TV, and both were left in the front yard of her Dover home, the Daily Record of Parsippany (http://dailyre.co/1eNpgE1) reported. Violet appeared to be in good health.

Miss America: Don't Suspend Teen over Prom Invite

Miss America is asking a Pennsylvania school district to reconsider the punishment of a senior who asked her to prom during the question-and-answer portion of an assembly.

The York Dispatch reported Sunday (http://bit.ly/1iBazDw) that Nina Davuluri posted a statement on the Miss America Organization's Facebook page saying she contacted Central York High School to ask officials to rethink the three-day in-school suspension issued to 18-year-old Patrick Farves.

Polish Man Says he Crossed Atlantic by Kayak

A 67-year-old Polish retiree has claimed he kayaked solo across the Atlantic, taking six months to make the ocean crossing from Portugal to Florida.

Aleksander Doba said on his Google+ page that he arrived in Florida late Thursday after setting off from Lisbon on October 5 in the 21-foot (6.4 meter) white and yellow kayak he calls "Olo."
