Doomsday Shelters Line Kansas Missile Silo

Tucked deep beneath the Kansas prairie, luxury condos are being built into the shaft of an abandoned missile silo to service anxious -- and wealthy -- people preparing for doomsday.

So far, four buyers have plopped down a total of about $7 million for havens to flee to when disaster happens or the end is nigh. And developer Larry Hall has options to retro-fit three more Cold War-era silos when this one fills up.

A US chocolatier will unveil what is being billed as the world's first chocolate kimono at its new outlet in Japan later this month -- but the unusual garment is not for sweet-toothed customers.

About a third of the dye for the silk kimono, a traditional flowing outfit that is now mostly worn on special occasions, is from chocolate made by New York's MarieBelle for its cafe in the country's ancient capital Kyoto.

Rescued Pit bulls Saved from Philippines Cull

More than 200 pit bulls rescued from an illegal online dog-fighting operation in the Philippines were saved from a mass cull after two animal shelters agreed to care for them, rescuers said Thursday.

Thirty-three dogs weakened by wounds, dehydration and poor nutrition or showing overly aggressive behavior had already been put down while four other animals died since their rescue, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society said.

S. Korean Game Addict Accused of Killing Baby

A South Korean woman was detained for killing her baby who was born while she was playing online games, police said Thursday.

They said the 26-year-old gave birth while at an Internet cafe in Seoul on March 25. She allegedly put the infant in a plastic bag, sealed it and dumped it in a nearby parking lot.
