Salam: Lebanon's Stance at Arab Summit Stems from Keenness on Arab Unity

Prime Minister Tammam Salam has stressed that his announcement of Lebanon's backing to any Arab decision which preserves Yemen's stability was the result of his keenness on the unity of the Arab nation.

Addressing the Arab League summit held in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Saturday night, Salam said Lebanon supported any decision to preserve the territorial integrity of Yemen.

Hariri Slams Nasrallah's Speech as 'Hatred Storm'

Al-Mustaqbal Movement leader and former Prime Minister Saad Hariri lashed out on Saturday at Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, despite confirming that the dialogue will continue to preserve Lebanon's interests.

“The Lebanese listened tonight (Friday) to a storm of hatred against Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states in response to the Decisive Storm military intervention that aims to prevent the Iranian infiltration to Yemen,” Hariri said on his account via Twitter.

Hariri, Erdogan Discuss Strengthening 'Moderation' in Region

Al-Mustaqbal movement leader ex-PM Saad Hariri held talks Wednesday in Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the “dangers” that are threatening the Middle East region and means to strengthen moderation, his press office said.

“The meeting, which lasted nearly an hour and a half, tackled the situation in the Middle East. It also focused on the need to unify efforts to deal with the risks threatening the region and strengthen the moderate majority in the Arab and Muslim worlds,” the office said in a statement.

Gemayel Slams Iran's Role, Says Aoun's 'Illogical' Presidential Stance Should Change

Kataeb Party leader Amin Gemayel blamed Iran on the spread of crises in the region and criticized Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun over his “illogical” stance from the presidential deadlock.

U.S. Embassy in Saudi Extends Closure to Public

The United States embassy in Saudi Arabia said it would remain closed to the public for a third day Tuesday because of "security concerns".

Consular services had initially been suspended on Sunday and Monday but the closure will continue for an extra day, a notice on the embassy website said.

Rifi Says Hizbullah Members Linked to Global Corruption, Money Laundry Cases

Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi revealed on Monday that a number of Hizbullah members around the world are involved in corruption and money laundering cases, pointing out that several were detained in Lebanon on the same charges.

“A number of cases have been unveiled related to Hizbullah's illegal activity and evading custom fees and taxes in Beirut's port and airport,” Rifi said in an interview with the Saudi newspaper al-Watan.

U.S. Warns Western Oil Workers in Saudi of Attacks

Western oil workers in Saudi Arabia risk being attacked or kidnapped by "terrorist" groups in the OPEC kingpin, the U.S. embassy in Riyadh said in a warning posted online.

The U.S. mission said it "has information stating that, as of early March, individuals associated with a terrorist organisation could be targeting Western oil workers, possibly to include those U.S. citizens working for oil companies in the Eastern Province, for an attack(s) and/or kidnapping(s)".

French Defense Minister in Beirut Next Month to Oversee Arms Delivery

French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has said he would visit Beirut mid-April to attend a ceremony on the first shipment of $3 billion worth of weapons paid for by Saudi Arabia.

However, Le Drian told pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat in remarks published on Thursday that the delivery of helicopters, missiles, warships, telecommunications equipment and other defense material will take three years to complete.

France Says to Begin Arms Shipments to Lebanon in April

France said on Wednesday that it will begin shipping $3 billion worth of weapons paid for by Saudi Arabia to the Lebanese army in April.

The Defense Ministry said in a statement that the deal, first announced in 2013, will supply French armored vehicles, warships, attack helicopters, munitions and communications gear.
