Head of the Mustaqbal Movement MP Saad Hariri praised on Saturday the army after its battles against terrorists in the Ras Baalbek region in the eastern Bekaa.

He declared in a statement: “It has proven its ability to confront assaults by extremists and to face terrorist bombings.”

Saudi King Abdullah has been praised by top Lebanese leaders for supporting Lebanon at times of crises. Many of them described him as Lebanon's “Key Backer.”

One of his latest grants to Lebanon was in December 2013 when he pledged three billion dollars for the purchase of arms from France for the benefit of the Lebanese army.

Head of al-Mustaqbal Movement leader and Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri expressed condolences on Friday to Saudi Arabia over the death of King Abdullah, calling on the Lebanese to mourn the monarch in all regions to express loyalty.

“I share my deep condolences with the Saudi people and call on the Lebanese people to mourn him in all regions to express loyalty to a man who never hesitated to support Lebanon,” Hariri said in a statement issued by his press office.

Former MP Ghattas Khoury concluded on Wednesday his testimony before the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, revealing that the Syrian regime did not heed calls to refrain from harming Lebanese officials.

He said in his cross-examination by the Defense: “The international community had warned Syria against harming former Premier Rafik Hariri and MP Walid Jumblat, but it ignored it.”

The head of al-Mustaqbal Movement ex-premier Saad Hariri reportedly transferred compensations for the residents of the northern neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen who were harmed by the latest bombing in the area.

According to al-Akhbar newspaper published on Saturday, the money was transferred to the Interior Ministry, which will supervise the spending.

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq hailed on Wednesday the bilateral talks between the political arch-foes, stressing the necessity of dialogue to safeguard the country.

“Dialogue between (al-Mustaqbal Movement) and Hizbullah is a strategic option,” Mashnouq told reporters after talks with Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun at his residence in Rabieh.

Speaker Nabih Berri praised the residents of Jabal Mohsen in the northern city of Tripoli after the suicide attack that targeted a packed cafe on Saturday and stressed that talks between Hizbullah and al-Mustaqbal began showing their fruits.

Local dailies published on Monday quoted Berri as telling his visitors that “we won nine martyrs and the terrorists lost two” men.

Lebanese officials and political leaders condemned Wednesday the attack on the Paris offices of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, which left 12 people dead, saying the incident was not only an assault against France but also against Islam itself.

Prime Minister Tammam Salam sent a cable to French President Francois Hollande, condoling him over the victims and expressing “the solidarity of the Lebanese people with France.”

The second round of dialogue between Hizbullah and al-Mustaqbal movement is scheduled to be held in Ain el-Tineh on Monday to discuss ways to limit Sunni-Shiite tension, political sources said.

The sources told An Nahar daily published on Sunday that the representatives of the two parties will assess the results of the first meeting that was held between them under the auspices of Speaker Nabih Berri last month.

Speaker Nabih Berri snapped back at politicians doubting the success of the dialogue underway between Hizbullah and al-Mustaqbal movement, urging them to “relax.”

“The wheels are turning and they won't stop,” Berri said in remarks published in local newspapers on Monday.
