Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea condemned on Tuesday the kidnapping of Syrian citizens in Lebanon, whether they oppose or support the Syrian regime.

He accused after holding talks with the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin: “The Lebanese security authorities are complicit with the abductions and they seek to lure out the Syrian opposition members in order to deport them to Syria.”

Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel said on Saturday that the March 14-led opposition supporters’ victory in the Students elections at Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU) is a model of democracy and an achievement for Lebanon.

“This is additional evidence that the Lebanese youth know exactly what future they want for their kids,” Gemayel said during a meeting with a delegation from the Phalange party students at the NDU.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea noted on Thursday that the Syrian regime cannot go ahead with the Arab League proposal even though it had announced its acceptance of the initiative “without reservations.”

He added: “The regime has only made a political maneuver and it cannot withdraw its troops from the streets and it will not allow the media and rights groups to enter Syria.”

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stated that the Lebanese opposition is nearing its goals, criticizing sides that believe that opposition means occupying downtown Beirut, blocking roads, and stirring unrest.

He told Abu Dhabi’s al-Ittihad newspaper: “The real opposition is what we are doing today through following up on the government’s work and issuing positions on all that is being proposed in Lebanon.”

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea warned on Wednesday the parliamentary majority against ignoring the will of the majority of the Lebanese people regarding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

He said after holding talks with MP Fouad Saad: “The current majority’s ongoing tampering with the issue of the funding of the STL will awaken the dormant strife.”

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea warned on Monday of any manipulation concerning the funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri.

All the successive cabinets “insured the funding of the STL since 2008 with the participation of Hizbullah ministers,” Geagea told An Nahar newspapers.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea warned that the Lebanese status quo was in tatters after the U.S. accused Iran of trying to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington.

In an interview with the Saudi al-Riyadh daily, Geagea said: “After the confrontation between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia on one side and Iran on the other went out of hands, I am no longer sure that we could keep this status quo.”

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Monday that most officials discussing the Special Tribunal for Lebanon are missing out on its purpose which is related to justice, stressing that the silence over the Syrian infiltration in the eastern Bekaa valley can be considered a “national treason.”

“They are tackling it (the STL) from a technical point of view, but it is a moral compensation to the millions who lost their beloved ones… To stop the political crimes and to establish the civil peace,” Geagea told al-Joumhouria newspaper.

He said during the LF students’ graduation ceremony: “It’s natural that the security of a country be destabilized, but for it to be destabilized on a daily basis for the sake of one party is unacceptable.”

He said after holding talks with French Ambassador to Lebanon Denis Pietton: “The Lebanese government should send a strongly-worded complaint to Syria over the matter.”
