Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has warned Lebanon that it would “pay the price” of any attack carried out by Hizbullah on the Jewish state.

Hizbullah and Hamas are armed with tens of thousands of rockets of different types and on the day they receive the order, “they’ll fire them at our cities and civilians,” Ya'alon said during an Independence Day speech he delivered in Herzliya on Tuesday.

Jordan, already straining from hosting hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, is increasingly feeling the heat from its own citizens who are fed up with the growing influx.

Built at a cost of some $20 million, the 250-megawatt plant is in Qudsaya, northwest of Damascus.

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly conveyed on Tuesday U.S. condolences for the recent deaths and injuries of Lebanese nationals from attacks originating from inside Syria that have struck Lebanese villages.

She reiterated after holding talks with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati “the U.S. call on all parties in the region to avoid any actions that would exacerbate the crisis in Syria, increase the propensity for spillover violence, and negatively impact civilian populations.”

The families of nine Lebanese pilgrims held hostage in Syria since May last year scuffled on Tuesday with army troops during a protest they held near the Turkish embassy in Rabieh.

Dozens of soldiers and policemen were deployed to prevent the crowd from reaching the mission.

Syrian President Bashar Assad has declared an amnesty, and troops who deserted but did not fight against the regime may be pardoned if they surrender within a month, state news agency SANA reported.

"President Assad has issued decree number 23, granting a general amnesty for crimes committed before April 16, 2013," said the agency.

Pro-regime television channel Al-Ikhbariya will air an interview with Syria's President Bashar Assad on Wednesday, the broadcaster said.

"Syria's Al-Ikhbariya has conducted an exclusive interview with President Bashar Assad... and it will be broadcast on Wednesday... at 9:30 pm (1830 GMT)," the channel said on its Facebook page.
