Prime Minister Najib Miqati tasked on Wednesday Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour with following up the Syrian bombardment of Lebanese border towns.
“The army is taking the necessary measures to control the border with the neighboring country,” Information Minister Walid Daouq quoted Miqati as saying after a cabinet session held at the Grand Serail.

The March 14 General Secretariat accused on Wednesday the Syrian regime of seeking to create strife and unrest in Lebanon, the most recent of these attempts were the attacks against the Dar al-Fatwa clerics in Beirut on Sunday.
It demanded in a statement after its weekly meeting that a “complaint be filed at the United Nations Security Council to protest the Syrian regime's ongoing violations of Lebanon's sovereignty, especially after its jets shelled Lebanese territory.”

Syria's state media on Wednesday slammed rebel forces for electing Ghassan Hitto as opposition premier, saying he was a pawn of foreign nations complicit in a "conspiracy" against Syria.
Al-Watan daily said Hitto had been "appointed" by Turkey and Qatar, which both back the uprising against President Bashar Assad, along with the Muslim Brotherhood organization.

Iran on Wednesday accused "armed opposition groups" in Syria of having used chemical weapons on the city of Aleppo, warning against a recurrence of such attacks, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"The Islamic republic of Iran strongly condemns the inhumane act by armed opposition groups in using chemical weapons in the city of Aleppo," foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said.

Five Syrian shells landed near a Lebanese border town in the northeast on Wednesday, two days after Syrian air strikes along the border area, the state-run National News Agency reported.
NNA said the shells landed on the outskirts of the town of al-Qasr in Hermel district.

Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour reiterated on Wednesday that he would do the necessary contacts about the alleged Syrian air strikes inside Lebanese territories upon his return to Beirut after he cast doubt that the attacks took place.
In remarks to al-Joumhouria newspaper, Mansour said he would follow up the case when he returns to Beirut “although he was informed during his presence in Nigeria that the alleged Syrian raids in the border areas were rumors.”

Syria's opposition will not enter into dialogue with the regime of President Bashar Assad, the country's newly elected rebel prime minister said Tuesday in his inaugural speech.
"We confirm to the great Syrian people that there will be no dialogue with the Assad regime," Ghassan Hitto said.
