Dozens of residents of several Bekaa Valley towns staged a demonstration Tuesday after the evening Tarawih prayers at the Masnaa border crossing between Lebanon and Syria to “voice solidarity with the Syrian people and condemn the repression” of Syrian protesters at the hands of their country’s regime, Voice of Lebanon radio network (100.5) reported.
The demonstrators stood a few meters away from the border crossing, carrying banners and shouting slogans against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, amid a heavy security deployment, the radio network said.

India, Brazil and South Africa said they are launching a mission to Syria on Wednesday in a bid to halt a deadly crackdown on anti-regime protests.
The governments of the three nations, under an initiative of the IBSA forum of emerging economies, are seeking to help open a dialogue between Syrian authorities and the public to help bring months of brutal violence to an end, a Brazilian foreign ministry spokesman told Agence France Presse on Tuesday.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad promised on Tuesday an unceasing battle against the "terrorist groups" that his regime has accused of responsibility for the deadly violence that has wracked Syria since March.
"We will not waver in our pursuit of terrorist groups," Assad told visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, according to state news agency SANA.

The Mustaqbal bloc criticized on Tuesday Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour’s trip to Syria on Sunday, saying that it is reminiscent of the “hateful” days of Syria’s hegemony over Lebanon.
It also praised in a statement after its weekly meeting: “Parliament’s approval of a law on its maritime borders, which will help facilitate and speed up the steps needed to pave the way for drilling for oil in the Mediterranean Sea.”

Lebanon has been witnessing a notable diplomatic activity concerning the situation of European nationals in Syria, with a number of embassies in Lebanon taking precautionary measures to confront any dramatic development in the Syrian arena which might require the evacuation of foreigners from Syria into Lebanon, the Central News Agency reported Tuesday.
European diplomats have asked Lebanon to facilitate the entry of Europeans through the Lebanese-Syrian land border crossings and their departure from the Beirut Rafik Hariri International Airport to their countries, well-informed sources told the news agency.

The speaker of Iraq's parliament on Tuesday called for an end to Syria's deadly crackdown on anti-regime protests, saying the neighboring country must "stop the bloodshed."
"The bloody events occurring in Syria call for us to demand that the Syrian government stop the bloodshed, because the government is responsible for protecting the people," Osama al-Nujaifi said in a statement.
Security forces killed at least 30 civilians on Tuesday in Syria, among them 17 in the eastern protest hub of Deir Ezzor, activists said.
"At least 15 people were killed in different parts of Deir Ezzor which has been raided by tanks and vehicles mounted with machine guns," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, quoting activists at the scene.

Informed sources have denied that Syria has sent to Lebanon for the second time arrest warrants against 33 Lebanese personalities in the lawsuit filed by former head of Lebanon’s General Security Department Maj. Gen. Jamil Sayyed.
The sources told al-Mustaqbal daily published Tuesday that Syria only sent a detailed document on the identities of the 33 figures. They include judges, security officers, politicians, journalists and other Lebanese, Arab and foreign officials and individuals.

Cabinet members have agreed on urging security forces in preventing arms smuggling form Lebanon to prevent the country from becoming a safe haven for smugglers seeking to strike the security and stability of Syria, media reports said Tuesday.
As Safir newspaper said that Ministers Ali Hassan Khalil, Mohammed Fneish and Ali Qanso stressed during a cabinet session held at the Grand Serail on Monday that “every person has the freedom to express his political stance but this should not turn into participation in the plot against Syria.”
