France, Spain, Turkey and even Lebanon has had military coups that have improved their countries... review history! Problem is only when they refuse to transition back to civilian rule! If the Military hands back power in a organised way then yes it has and can work! Syria, egypt, burma and libya are examples of when the military refuses to return power and then yes that is something we should all wish never happens! But Lebanon is a nation were democracy and oppression can never last!

Hohoho... true but they failed to transition back in time! Bashar Assad when he was 1st installed as president promised many changes that he never produced in time. he was too late. If Bashar Assad introduced the reforms before the "arab spring" then ok... Nationalising the kurds, legalising other political parties, other then the baath party, releasing political prisoners, opening the banking system etc etc. then yes they would be an example of a successful military coup that might have been forgiven for the invasion and occupation of Lebanon over the past 30 years, and the policy that Lebanon is the 16th provence of Syria!
