I wrote "Cyprus got what it deserves...". I know the dead were innocent, and my sympathy goes to them and their families, but Cyprus as a country/government got what it deserves. Also, the next time Cyprus decides to cease arms cargo, it better know how to store it! LOL
Assad is using tactics that Iran has used in the past, that is to put the power of the masses in confrontation with Western governments. The question is whether Syria can get away with this as Iran has in the past. Syria is not Iran in the sense that it does not have it's size and power and cannot close the flow of oil from the Gulf; but on the other hand it is a regime that is indispensable for the Americans at this time. Assad knows that the American do not have an alternative to replace him, so he is pushing the pressure game with them.
Everyone must read the Patriarch's statement elsewhere. This article was selectively edited for propaganda, as are many articles on this tabloid. Patriarch Ra'i is a great Patriarch.
@Georgyporgy: Yes, the Cypriot government was a friend to Lebanon and the Lebanese throughout. They were also even on the side of the Palestinians in their cause. But that does not mean they don't deserve it when an arms cargo blows up in their face because they obeyed the Americans when they told them to cease it. They could have shown a little more independence in that area. This is my position on this, now about you, Georgyporgy, have you examined your sexuality lately. Your writing style and choice of words reflects a confused person with one foot in the closet and another outside it. Make an appointment with your shrink before it is too late for you.
I watched the entire interview. This tabloid website only could come up with this headline? And then they tell you they are objective, neutral reporters. LOL
Jumblat has proven to be a very patriotic leader. When he was inside (actually the godfather of) M14, his positions and statements were emanating from his patriotism. He was angered by the assassination of a man like Rafq Hariri and he unleashed his anger. Today his stances are also emanating from his patriotism. It is his patriotism, his sense of fairness and his conscience that make him see the grand conspiracy that is being prepared for Lebanon, and unlike others who only see personal political gain, he speaks the truth.

12 July 2011, 08:58The army is with the Shiites anyway, so Berri's request is not unrealistic.
