I am not very impressed that everyone posting here, on either side, is acting as if the indictment is a judgment. Guys, this is just an indictment. It is not a court ruling or decision, and these 4 men are still innocent until proven guilty.
But this brings us to the real purpose of the indictment. Those behind the indictment know that no verdict will be reached in this case. In fact they are certain that these 4 men will never be arrested or interrogated, let alone convicted. So the only purpose of the indictment is to create the effect that we see here, unfortunately. The aim is to smear the image of the resistance, and keep Hizbullah distracted for as long as it takes. It is very similar to what we are seeing in Syria. They know the regime will not fall (since the majority of the people is with Assad), but they create enough problems for it to pressure it into submission. The same is the case with the STL. The indictment is a tool to pressure Hizbullah into submission.
