A stun grenade that detonated in Qasqas street in Beirut caused panic among civilians after media outlets had mistakenly reported that an explosion took place in the capital's southern suburbs.

The false media reports came just minutes after a deadly explosion hit the Bekaa town of Hermel.

Al-Manar television was quick to deny that a bombing targeted the southern Beirut neighborhood of Dahieh, after OTV said the sound of an explosion was heard in the area.

Later on Saturday, a security source told LBCI television that a stun grenade detonated when two people were “playing with it” in al-Khasheqji Mosque in Beirut.

"One of these two people is in a critical condition,” the source added.

However, the state-run National News Agency said later on Saturday that the bomb was hurled from outside the mosque as its lever was found on nearby street.

The NNA identified the injured men as mosque servant Khalil Itani and its guard Yasser al-Masri.

"They were both transferred to al-Maqassed hospital for treatment.”

They need to keep the grenades to protect us from Israel which can wipe them to the ground from the air in 10 minutes.
