Aoun Wants to Be Part of 'Integrated Triangle' with Nasrallah, Hariri

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun announced on Wednesday that he wants to be part of an "integrated triangle" along with Hizbullah and al-Mustaqbal Movement.

"We want everyone to reach an understanding for Lebanon's sake and interest," Aoun said in an interview aired on al-Manar television on Wednesday evening.

He explained: “We should form an integrated triangle, (Hizbullah leader) Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, (al-Mustaqbal Movement head MP) Saad Hariri and I.”

"And we cannot dismantle this triangle.”

The FPM leader's statement comes on the eve of a fifth parliamentary session dedicated for electing a new president.

MPs failed for four consecutive sessions to elect a new head of state.

In the first electoral round, no nominee was able to gather the required number of votes to win the race. And quorum was not secured in the second, third and fourth rounds, which blocked the possibility of holding a voting session.

While the March 14 coalition publicly announced backing Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea in his presidential race, Aoun said he aspires to become a consensual nominee and garner the support of al-Mustaqbal bloc.

In a separate matter, the Change and Reform bloc head said collaboration is ongoing between different factions “to restore normalcy in Lebanon.”

"Until now we managed to form a cabinet, adopt a security plan, and appoint public employees,” he said.

The Christian leader also discussed during the interview the liberation of the South, which is celebrated on May 25 of every year.

"The resistance is a right for all people whose land is occupied, and it is their duty to liberate it,” Aoun considered.

“The Israeli danger is continuous,” he remarked.

Asked about President Michel Suleiman's statement on the people-army-resistance equation, Aoun said: “This is wrong because without people's support there is no resistance and without the army, resisting becomes difficult.”

He also revealed that a defense strategy was not discussed at the national dialogue sessions, saying that looking into means to disarm Hizbullah was tackled instead.

They just found cure to alzhimer ... yet to see the efect of tomany medication on ones head multiplied by and consumption of spirits, not sold in dahyee, and other controlled and not so controlled substances.
On a different front, we have to dream with own, final stage of ones life include a lot of sleeping. Aoun is a treasure. Take care of your elders, respect them. Being too close to God. We should be careful not to spoil our end. Suggest that he visit the holly land and take some extra blessings... shake things by starting from BKerki walking all the way to Maghboshi, bless our LAdy there. ALSO SADIQ FAMILLY, keep moving to reach Jerusalem. GOD BLESS US ALL. That is the eternal cure to all our sins.

Poor senile fool he woke up this morning thinking it's still 2005 and Pakradoni and Baby Lahoud have yet to visit him with the Syrian deal, jump ship and we grantee you are president, too bad neither the Syrians nor Hezbollah could make that happen. Aoun pretending he was a consensus candidate, is as if Hitler was pretending he was a Rabbi.

Hello speekfreely
how are you doing?
no need for Aoun to bury his head. He has nothing inside it. OMG I am shivering just at the possibility albeit remote that he is considered for President let alone be elected

how are you my friend?
Aoun is trying any possible avenue just to get elected. Someone has to tell this senile and incompetent general that he will NEVER be elected He has to understand the immense majority view him as an idiot and unfir to be president

Anna badee. You would think that his rationale for obstructing the election had everything to do with what Aoun wants regardless of what Lebanon wants. Totally self absorbed and selfish.
Aoun, not fit to lead even his family, much less the State.

Thumb beiruti 22 May 2014, 04:24

Did he campaign for it? Did he sell it politically as he spent the last 9 years threatening to prosecute Hariri?? No. He just wants it and that is supposed to be enough.

Is there anyone out there that CLAoun hasn't teamed or tried to team up with in order to gain more power? I am curious how CLAounists are going to sell this as CLAoun is doing us all a favor? Let's see what else CLAoun is willing to do or negotiate while NOT running for president.

Thumb LEBhasNOhope 22 May 2014, 05:58

one way ticket? No backbone. No principles. No self respect. Just a hunger for power and willing to sell anything and everything to get it.

Thumb liberty 22 May 2014, 06:50

This is a prelude for a constitutional change. HA wants a new equation of one thirds: 1/3 sunnis, 1/3 shias, 1/3 christians. Aoun believes he represents the christians in this new triangle. Be ware!

Thumb thepatriot 22 May 2014, 09:38

Thumb FlameCatcher 22 May 2014, 12:01

@Aoun : "The resistance is a right for all people whose land is occupied, and it is their duty to liberate it"

This means anyone can take up arms and resists those who occupy them ?

Yalla Aoun, we will create a Christian army and resist Hezbollah as we believe they are enforcing Iranian occupation of our territory.

Anyone can create an army and also resist Israel. Anyone can blame anyone of being an Israeli collaborator and kill him under the name of the bloody resistance right ?

HASSAN NASRALLAH is an Israeli collaborator ! Yalla people, it's your right to resist and kill him !

Thumb FlameCatcher 22 May 2014, 12:28

@FT : do you agree with Iran arresting women for removing their veils in this video ? Is this your aspirations for Lebanon ? Keeping women locked at home to take care of children and making sure they never express their right to be free ? and happy ?

Thumb beiruti 22 May 2014, 16:05

This "Iron Triangle" argument of Aoun. Just look at what he is talking about. Under Taif, Christians and Muslims each have a 50% share of Parliamentary seats. Under the "Iron Triangle" analogy, that MashnAoun is arguing, he, as the alleged Christian leader is allocated one-third; Hariri, the Sunni, one-third; and, Nasrallah, the Shia, one-third.
He is offering a dilution of Christian political power as a means to win support for his personal ambition to become president.
Sacrifice Lebanon for his own interest - This is Aoun.
Just like in 1990 when he escaped Lebanon with his army still in the field being killed by Syrian helicopters. He is willing to sacrifice Lebanon for his own personal interest, either in saving his life or realizing his power fantasies.
At least he is consistent.

The only triangle this traitor will be a part of is the terrorist triangle, with Assad and Nasrallah
