Syria's security forces opened fire on Monday during a raid on political dissidents in the town of Houla in central Homs province, a flashpoint in the months-long anti-regime uprising, activists said.

"Five residents, including a woman, were shot dead on Monday by security forces, who have been conducting a sweep in Houla since Sunday," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a statement.

A 26-year-old man died of his wounds on Monday after being among a group of people whom security forces shot at the night before in the town of Irbin, near Damascus, the activist group said earlier.

Elsewhere, security forces also fired at hundreds of demonstrators in the towns of Qusayr and Talbisseh, in central Homs province, said the activist group.

The forces conducted a campaign of arrests in Aleppo, the country's second-largest city, eastern Deir Ezzor and the coastal cities of Latakia and Banias, it added.

Security forces also massed on Monday in the flashpoint province of Daraa, where demonstrations against President Bashar al-Assad's regime first erupted six months ago, activists said.

"More than 30 buses carrying members of the security forces on Sunday night entered Dael (village), where they have since arrested 45 people," said the Syrian Observatory.

The massive deployment came after protests were held across Syria on Sunday, said the Britain-based Observatory.

@mowaten

You spend too much time looking for cheap conspiracy theories...

What does CIA have to do with CORU??

And by the way, regarding Alpha 66 the main component of CORU:

"there was always a suspicion that the movement's leadership was in reality guided by the communist government of Cuba since every single person that went to infiltrate Cuba was "always" expected already and executed within the first four hours of arriving the island, this claim is also supported by the fact that Nasario Sargent (its leader), would "always" call the radio stations and newspapers "two" days "before" the infiltration "even" giving specific details such as the number of people that was being sent at the particular time"

hahahaha...akhhh ya mowaten akh......

claiming facts to be "cheap conspiracy theories" is sing of being retarded or having interest in cover up, which of course fits with Mossad activities on this website's comments section.

it's well know, not just from middle east, that usa has repeatedly financed and incited many uprisings.
It was very clear in east europe after the fall of Soviet Union.

Mowaten, nevermind trying to convince these people here otherwise, its finished some lebanese factions are so blinded by hate towards their neighboring country that it doesn't matter what goes on in there as long as they experience distabalization and suffering, somehow they will be able to go to sleep better at night, in some sick and twisted way.

by now any clever analyst or player knows this is a big conspiracy as it has been in the past with many other countries, but never mind our local fools its a tradition lebanese are well known for their prostitution this is no different, except the fact that its going to come back and bite them hard this time.

if Assad should ever fall, Who do you think will replace him? a friendly highly educated and wise "democratic government? think again.

He even was jailed in US for a while "Bosch was detained in the United States for six months until all charges were dropped"...hahahaha...

You've waisted enough of my time.

It is worthless bickering with comments, IF a person is or was CIA they wouldnt be mentioning them in Wikipedia, they have stars (not names) representing them in CIA HQ instead of names, so that should give u a clue. CIA have had their hands in the cookie jar many times in history but their are by far stronger secret societies that control what goes on in this world, know that for a fact.

In my opinion, i would rather vote 100 different times and take my chances instead of having a person like Assad to stay in power with the same mind set for 11 years. He brought destruction and oppression to Lebanon and if your truly Lebanese then the hell with him!

I am against all persons that do harm to any Lebanese citizen

@an & G

My point here was only to prove that mowaten, as usua,l gives false information. His own theories cannot be stated as "facts"!
