Nasrallah Urges Voters to 'Immunize Resistance Politically', Vows Anti-Tax Demos

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Sunday urged Hizbullah's supporters to turn out heavily in the upcoming parliamentary elections in order to “immunize the resistance politically.”

In order to achieve the objective, Hizbullah must ensure a “strong presence” in parliament, government and the presidencies, Nasrallah told an electoral rally in the South via video link.

Hizbullah's chief reminisced that in 2006, the Lebanese government and its then-prime minister, Fouad Saniora, “ordered the Army Command, during the July War, to confiscate any truck carrying arms to the resistance.”

“One truck was confiscated and he who made the decision was betting on a clash between the resistance and the army, but the wisdom of the two parties and political interventions contained the situation at the time – though difficultly due to the insistence of the then-premier on his decision,” Nasrallah explained.

“Nowadays, inside and outside Lebanon and in the U.S. and the Gulf there are new bets on this clash and this battle. Our guarantee is having a strong presence in state institutions. In 2006, the strongest guarantee was represented in Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri,” Nasrallah added.

He cautioned voters that “on some rival lists, there are friends, but there are also enemies.”

Turning to the CEDRE economic conference that was held on Friday in Paris, Nasrallah warned that Hizbullah might organize “street protests” to confront any attempt to "impose new taxes on the poor and low-income citizens."

Nasrallah: The most dangerous plot against the resistance in Lebanon was the attempt to stir internal strife by pushing the army to clash with the resistance in 2005.

If this is true what Nasrallah says about then-prime minister Fouad Siniora, I say BRAVO and salute him for his national, patriotic stance to prevent a state within the state, a militia long after all militias was abandoned, a terror group killing not only inside Lebanon but in Europe, Middle East and South America.

It was Elias El Murr, minister of defense.

Then BRAVO, Elias El Murr as well. He, more than anyone knows what weapons outside state control can do: Wiki: On 12 July 2005, Murr was targeted by a 20-kg maybe improvised explosive device in the city of Antelias, 5 km north of Beirut. 12 people were injured, and one person was killed by the explosion that almost took the life of the Deputy Prime Minister at the time.[13] Murr said that he knew an attempt on his life had been planned for months, and had informed the state security services.

The tiny Christian minority in Lebanon would rather be invaded by Israel than defended by the Lebanese Muslim majority? I'll bet if you asked Lebanese Christians, they'd reject their own "leadership".

Which TV-channels are airing this election campaign-speech anyway? They ought to ignore the terror-desperado..

Why doesn't Nasrallah talk about political reform, getting rid of the Article 24 set-aside of half of parliamentary seats to the Christian minority? How do I know it's a minority? If it had the numbers, it wouldn't need the Constitutional set-aside.

"Nasrallah: The Americans conducted surveys and studies within the ranks of the Lebanese Army to determine whether the command, the officers and the soldiers were willing to fight against the resistance. The surveys were conducted on a sectarian basis... They realized at the time that the army will not clash with the resistance and this was among the reasons that expedited the 2006 Israeli war." So Hezbullah knew it wouldn't have to fight the Army. And Israel presumably knew this. So it figured it had to "take down" Hezbullah itself. So Nasrallah admits Hezbullah incited the invasion? A reasonable ploy against a determined (racist) enemy, but an expensive one: so now he is taking credit for bold statecraft? How about civil activism to get equal voting rights: abolishing the Article 24 set-aside?
