A family of six narrowly escaped with their lives on Wednesday after a part of their house collapsed in the town of al-Hallousiyeh in the southern city of Tyre, reported the National News Agency.

It said that the head of the family, Qassem Mounis, was awaken at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday by the sound that he likened to an explosion to discover that parts of the house’s main room had crumbled.

He immediately urged his family to evacuate the two-building, fearing a further collapse after large cracks appeared in the walls.

He demanded that the concerned authorities provide the family with shelter seeing as they are now without a home.

Experts at the scene determined that the house was no longer suitable for living, noting that the original cracks in the building were caused by the July 2006 war, seeing as the building is situated in a neighborhood that witnessed heavy shelling during the conflict.

This is a latest of a series of building collapses in Lebanon.

On Tuesday, a vacant building abutting a structure that collapsed in the coastal town of Tabarja, north of Beirut almost two weeks ago tumbled down.

The first building collapsed on March 9, killing an Indian worker and injuring seven others.

On Saturday, three students were killed and seven others injured when part of a cliff collapsed at the Bhanine school in the northern Minieh-Dinniyeh district.

The series of collapsed buildings began in January in Beirut’s Ashrafiyeh neighborhood when a collapse left 27 people dead.

Hezbollah should pay for the building. They triggered that war. What a divine victory indeed......

The Hariri family should pay...the corrupt loser, Rafik, neglected all of Lebanon and focused only on rebuling downtown (where only millionares can afford to live).

Hezbollah must pay or be tried at least for damaging all the infrastructure in Lebanon due to adopting a bad war strategy.
