O'Brien announced Tuesday on his TBS talk show "Conan" that he's hosting this year's MTV Movie Awards. The annual movie celebration that honors winners with golden popcorn trophies is scheduled for April 13 at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Dr. Sherwin Nuland, a medical ethicist who opposed assisted suicide and wrote an award-winning book about death called "How We Die," has died at age 83.
He died of prostate cancer on Monday at his home in Hamden, Connecticut, said his daughter Amelia Nuland, who recalled how he told her he wasn't ready for death because he loved life.

Israel said Wednesday it fired at and hit two members of Hizbullah as they tried to plant a bomb near the Israeli-Syrian border, but Syrian state media accused the Jewish state of targeting its forces.

Barcelona defender Carles Puyol has decided to leave the club at the end of the season, preferring to take some time off after several injury-filled seasons and putting his football future in doubt.
