Unknown gunmen on Tuesday opened fire at a Syrian polling station in the Jdeidet Yabous area near the border with Lebanon, which witnessed huge gatherings of Syrians who flocked to vote in their country's presidential election that got underway on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Interior on Saturday warned Syrian refugees that they must not travel to their country as of June 1, saying that otherwise their will lose their status as refugees.

Syrian President Bashar Assad met Sunday with former Lebanese General Security chief Maj. Gen. Jamil Sayyed, who said talks tackled the “cleaning” of Syrian areas near Lebanon's border from “terrorists” to pave the ground for greater “coordination” with the Lebanese Army.
