The March 14 camp announced on Sunday the Tripoli Declaration, which calls for national reconciliation in the city.

It said: “The reconciliation should be held after calm has been restored in Tripoli.”

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc head MP Fouad Saniora has said that any developments at the level of forming a cabinet have become impossible in light of Hizbullah's deep involvement in the Syrian crisis, reports said on Saturday.

Saniora's comments came during a dinner held in honor of President Michel Suleiman at the residence of Deputy Speaker Farid Makari in the presence of caretaker PM Najib Miqati, PM-designate Tammam Salam, several ministers, deputies of al-Mustaqbal and March 14 movement figures.

Head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora on Sunday held talks with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh on the latest developments in Lebanon, as a media report said the speaker wanted to put the ex-PM in the picture of a "mediation" he was tasked with in Iran.

"During his visit to Iran, Berri informed its leaders that he was willing to exert efforts to achieve Iranian-Saudi rapprochement, and he was tasked with this mission, but he did not want to bypass the Mustaqbal Movement so he held a meeting with Saniora," MTV reported.

The meeting between the two men is “expected to take place soon,” An-Nahar daily said.

Head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora condemned on Friday the attack on Thursday against a number of residents from the Jabal Mohsen neighborhood in the northern city of Tripoli, describing it as a “cowardly and criminal act.”

He noted that the assault was an attempt to create strife throughout Lebanon, demanding that an investigation be launched in the incident.
