Israel downed a drone over the occupied Golan Heights on Sunday, the army said, amid mounting tension on the U.N.-patrolled armistice line with Syria on the strategic plateau.

An Israeli paratrooper wounded in fighting in the Gaza Strip during the 50-day war with Palestinian militants died in hospital on Sunday, the army said.

Israel to Expropriate West Bank Land around Bethlehem

Israel announced Sunday it will expropriate 400 hectares (988 acres) of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, angering the Palestinians and alarming Israeli peace campaigners.
