Kerry Warns of 'Great Risks' of More Gaza Violence

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry warned on Tuesday of the "great risks" of spiraling violence between Israel and the Gaza Strip and called on Arab nations to push Hamas to accept a ceasefire.

"There are great risks in what is happening there and the potential of an even greater escalation of violence," Kerry told reporters in Vienna, as he wrapped up two days of talks on Iran's nuclear program.

Italian FM to Meet Abbas, Visit Ashdod

Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini will on Tuesday visit an Israeli town hit by rocket strikes from Gaza and meet Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas as part of a diplomatic push for peace, her ministry said.

Mogherini "will be in Ramallah this afternoon to meet president Mahmud Abbas and foreign minister Riyad al-Malki", the ministry said in a statement.

Turkey PM Accuses Israel of 'State Terrorism' over Gaza

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday stepped up his rhetoric against Israel over its deadly air offensive on Gaza, accusing the Jewish state of committing "state terrorism" against the Palestinians.

Presenting himself as the sole world leader speaking up for the Palestinians, Erdogan said that any normalization in the troubled ties between Israel and Ankara was currently out of the question.

Gaza Toll Hits 192 on Eighth Day of Violence

The death toll from Israel's week-long campaign in Gaza rose Tuesday to 192, after another six Palestinians died, four of them in strikes before Israel accepted an Egyptian ceasefire.

Emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said three people were killed in two separate air strikes on the southern city of Khan Yunis.

The Lebanese army and U.N. peacekeepers intensified their patrols along the border with the Jewish state as the Israeli military upped its presence in the occupied Shebaa Farms area, the state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Rocket Hits Ashdod in First Strike on City since 'Truce'

A Gaza rocket struck the southern port city of Ashdod on Tuesday, police said, just hours after Israel agreed to abide by an Egyptian truce that was rejected by Hamas. 

"The rocket struck a yard outside a house in Ashdod, several people have been treated for shock," police spokeswoman Luba Samri said in a statement.

Lebanese Government Cautioned over Rocket Attacks

The Lebanese government has been reportedly cautioned by several countries to control the situation in southern Lebanon after another rocket attack rocked northern Israel for the fourth consecutive day.

A rocket fired from Lebanese territory hit northern Israel on Monday night, the Israeli army said. There were similar attacks in the past four days.

Obama Welcomes Egypt's Ceasefire Plan for Gaza

U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday welcomed Egypt's proposal for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, saying he hoped it could restore calm.

New Rocket Fired at Israel as UNIFIL Slams 'Serious Violation of 1701'

In the fourth such attack in four days, at least one rocket was fired Monday night from southern Lebanon towards northern Israel.

“Unknown individuals fired a rocket from the Ras al-Ain area, south of the city of Tyre, towards the occupied Palestinian territories (Israel),” Lebanon's National News Agency reported.
