A Lebanese protester was killed and another was wounded Friday afternoon when two Israeli shells landed near them as they were trying to cross the Lebanese border into the Israeli settlement of Metulla, Lebanon’s National News Agency said.
“The Israeli army went on alert, trying to prevent them from advancing towards the fence, which prompted the enemy to fire two shells towards the young men,” NNA added.

An Israeli airstrike overnight targeted a vehicle on the Syrian side of Lebanon’s border near the Lebanese town of Hermel, media reports said.
Al-Jadeed TV said a strong blast was heard at 3:30 am in the Syrian town of al-Jantaliyeh in Qusayr’s countryside after Israeli aircraft bombed a pickup truck.

Three rockets were fired Thursday from southern Lebanon toward Israel, Lebanese security officials said, amid an escalating fighting between Israel and the militant Palestinian Hamas group in Gaza.

Both President Michel Aoun and Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh have denied discussing the issue of Hizbullah’s controversial financial institution, al-Qard al-Hasan, in a meeting that they held in Baabda.
A statement issued by the Presidency said media reports that claimed the opposite were “baseless,” noting that the discussions tackled “the monetary situations in the country, the issue of the ration cards and the issue of subsidization.”
