A candlelight vigil was held Friday evening outside the national museum in Beirut in solidarity with Syrian women refugees, on the second anniversary of the Syrian uprising that has now morphed into a full-blown civil war.
Women, children and around 100 civil society activists took part in the rally, which was organized by ABAAD-Resource Center for Gender Equality, a Lebanese NGO working for “sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region through equality, protection and empowerment of marginalized groups, especially women.”

President Michel Suleiman stated on Friday that the Lebanese authorities “are in charge of preventing gunmen from sneaking into Syrian territories”, reiterating the cabinet's disassociation policy towards the neighboring country's conflict.

The opposition Syrian National Coalition plans to meet in Istanbul next week to elect a prime minister for rebel-held areas of the country, a member said on Friday.
"The Coalition is to meet on March 18-19 in Istanbul. So far, the meeting is going ahead, and it is to choose the head of government. Consultations are continuing," Samir Nashar told Agence France Presse.

Head of al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc ex-PM Fouad Saniora on Friday strongly condemned Damascus' “threat” to bomb what it called “terrorist gangs” operating in Lebanese territory, urging the government to inform the Arab League and the U.N. of the warning.

A Syrian security official on Friday accused Jordan of opening its borders to jihadist fighters and allowing weapons bought by Saudi Arabia in Croatia to be smuggled into the country.

Prime Minister Najib Miqati welcomed on Friday a U.N. Security Council statement which underscored its grave concern at the arms trafficking and repeated weapons fire across the Lebanon-Syria border.
