The army dismantled on Thursday a bomb in the northern city of Tripoli, reported the National News Agency.

It said that an explosive was discovered in a box placed near Kanaan cafe in the Qobbeh neighborhood.

Army Halts Migrants Boat Off Tripoli as Sawfan Family Bodies Arrive in Lebanon

The navy thwarted on Wednesday an attempt to illegally smuggle a number of migrants from Lebanon, announced the army in a statement.

It said that 53 people were arrested off the coast of the northern city of Tripoli as they attempted to illegally depart the country in a Lebanese boat that can support no more than 15 people.

Police Arrest Palestinian Would-be Migrants in Tripoli

The Internal Security Forces arrested on Wednesday scores of Palestinians while trying to leave the port of the northern city of Tripoli on a migrant boat, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The ISF Intelligence Branch made the arrest of 40 Palestinians, including women, who reside in the southern refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh, said NNA.

Army Refers Kasha to the Judiciary for Terrorist Ties

The army intelligence referred detainee Ahmed Ghazi Kasha to the related judiciary on charges of having connections with terrorists and is involved in attacks against the army, possessing narcotics and many other crimes.

Kasha has links to two terrorist detainees, Ahmed Salim Miqati and Ibrahim Barakat, and for taking part in attacks against the army. Several arrest warrants have been issued against him including opening fire and possessing narcotics, the army said in a communique.

Army Arrests Prostitution Ring Linked to Kidnap Gang

The army announced Wednesday that it has arrested a “prostitution ring linked to a kidnap gang” in the northern city of Tripoli.

“An Intelligence Directorate patrol arrested yesterday in the city of Tripoli the Palestinian-Syrian woman Kinda Oueis and Lebanese national Walid Sobh, who together with fugitive Syrian Tarek Wifaqi constitute a prostitution ring linked to a kidnap gang,” the Army Command said in a statement.

IS Claims Attack on Tripoli Airport, 3 Killed

Militants attacked Tripoli's airport on Friday and killed three security personnel, a Libyan official said, in an assault claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group.

"An armed group carried out an attack this morning on the prison located on the Mitiga air base, to try to free the detainees," the airport security official said.

Army Arrests 24 Palestinians in Nahr al-Bared and Jabal al-Beddawi

The Lebanese army arrested two Palestinian nationals in Nahr al-Bared in the northern city of Tripoli for preparing to illegally smuggle people to Turkey in a fishing boat, the Lebanese army Orientation Directorate said in a statement.

Palestinians Mohammed Saleh and Mohammed Majzoub were apprehended on Saturday during a raid that an army unit carried out in the Nahr al-Bared Palestinian refugee camp.
