Good luck. You will need it to make a difference. What can you do in the next 2 years? Lebanon needs the oil refineries reopened in zahrani and tripoli. Updating electricity power plants to more effient gas or coal not the dirty and expensive oil. Dsl and 3G technology is already 10year old tech and outdated but must be inacted immediately. Rifi and all who disregard law and orders from superiors must be punished not just fired. Culture and tourism must aggressively promote Lebanon and close and clean up those that take advantage of tourists. Have we ever heard of public transport? Proper bus lines and timetables or light rail infrastructure. Clean up the judicial system, god knows where or how to start with that one... Anyway good luck. They have been asking for a chance, now they have it... Let's see whats the difference they can do.
G.aswad. It's these comments and statements from mustaqbul that helps push people towards Syria and Iran simply becoz they want to be the opposite of this childish, sectarian fueled hate and fear mongers. Perhaps if they were to disappear as you say, it might help to bring some of the Lebanese population back to the middle ground. However, I don't share your pessimism, that the cabinet is highjacked or controlled by any foreign country. let's give them a chance and see how they perform. Surly they can't be worse then what we've had in the past and if miqati can spend more time in Lebanon then spent in riyaddh or Europe like hariri did then they are already half way there.
When has israel honored resolution 1701? It's been 5 years and they still haven't retreated from the village of ghajjar. They breach lebanese sovereignty on a daily basis with their war planes flying within Lebanese airspace. So thank you Israel for your hopes and expectations... Would you like to hear ours?
Lebanese. Being proud of our phenician heritage is was units us under the Lebanese flag and distinguishes us from sorrounding Arabs. We are Lebanese, decendants of the famous and most magnificent ancient civilization that introduced the world to the phonetic alphabet, circumnavigated Africa and conquered the Mediterranean through commerce and trade. The phenecian city states of byblos, Sidon, tyre and Beirut were financial superpowers. Today, the modern Lebanese should be proud of this heritage, and this is what will and should unit us. Even though we may be of different religions, we share the same ancestors and business and commerce blood that has helped us to flourish all around the world.
What is the importance of the policy statement? Is it not just that a statement on the general policy? Why would something contentious like false witnesses be important? If it were not included in the statement would they not be able to address it later in cabinet? I think many media outlets in lebanon just make things up and then see how many are true.
You and mustaqbul are responsible. Whether you personally ordered the clashes or not. You inflame tensions with your ridiculas hate filled, sectarian rhetoric. you pour fuel everywhere and then hand the ignorant fools matches.
Why would anyone want to kill this fool? Who would benifit except the failing m14 movement. It's just an excuse the u.s. has made up to justify why Hariri gave up and left lebanon while he was still caretaker p.m.. Even the French say they know of no threat to his life.
Qawmi party should be banned in Lebanon for the sole and only reason that it doesn't believe in the republic of Lebanon. So to should salafi movements like the jummah islamia and those other parties that mustaqbul legalized when they released the dinniehey terrorists. Democracy and freedom of speech as long as they do not preach treason. Let's not forget it was hariri that legalized the qawmi party. When they say that the new cabinet is the cabinet of "jisr al shagur", this is incitement. When they say that the cabinet photo members were wearing black to salute the hezballah black shirts, this is incitment
Mehdi army... I am yet to hear any statement from mustaqbul that doesn't have a sectarian tone to it. As for Syria trying to assassinate saadadine, no one is that stupid to believe they would. These are Empty people.
