There was no such thing as PLO (inside or outside Lebanon) in 1956 when contacts where established between Israel and the Phalanges headed by Pierre Gemayel.
I am not painting all the Maronites with the same brush. I mentioned the Phalanges and "Some" other Maronites, and by that I meant other parties like the Ahrar of Chamoun. But generally speaking, the Maronite leaders have been self-serving and not looking out for the interests of the country. The same for the Muslim leaders who where under their wings at those times.
