Rifaat Eid's Residence Comes Under Fire

The Arab Democratic Party handed on Wednesday the army intelligence tapes showing the vehicle used by assailants to open fire on the house of Rifaat Eid.

Several unidentified suspects opened fire at Eid's residence in the northern city of Tripoli around midnight Tuesday, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The guards returned fire without causing any casualties, NNA said.

Eid is the politburo chief of the Arab Democratic Party which takes the Jabal Mohsen district of Tripoli as its stronghold.

The neighborhood's residents, who are mainly Alawites from the sect of Syrian President Bashar Assad, have been engaged in several rounds of deadly fighting with gunmen from the district of Bab al-Tabbaneh.

The Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhood's residents are Sunni and support the uprising against Assad.

That goes true for every region and sect in Lebanon... What's your point? There are only two groups above the law in Lebanon, that's what this whole thing comes down to.

he's just parroting HA and Assad clan arguments.
HA must keep weapons coz of Israel. Assad must keep power coz he's resisting Israel, the takfiris and protecting minorities. Even if it's the other way around...

retardo habib.. Rifaat Eid is the scum of the earth abusing his poor neighborhood to do whatever bashar asks, funding snipers against bab al tabbaneh residents and blowing up mosques.
No arms in lebanon are justified other than the state institutions "Period"

Who protected Harriri, Gemayel, hawi, tueni, chidiac, lassie, hajj, and Eid?
Those that were armed and did not turn in their arms to the authorities continued the hostile Syrian hegemony over Lebanon to repeat the same dance of Israel is behind everything that moves on earth and air.

I agree, to blame Israel for every murder is getting old. Like we don't ever hurt each other. It's all Israel. It's such a pathetic excuse for all of these crimes.

Who will protect bin laden? If he did not have those guards shooting back? If you continue to be a warlord and did not turn in your arms then feel the consequences since you wish to take matters into your hands and continue to undermine the state.

FT, army aren't there to protect them always, ofcourse they can patrol the streets once in a while, but when the fighting really starts to happend, the army retreats.

That happens everytime, so what are the residents of Jabal Mohsen supposed to do? Lay down and let the salafis slit their throats? Ofcourse they defend themselves, and they got every reason to do so.

The day the army can guarantee 100% security in Tripoli, then the residents will drop their weapons, until then. It's just a fantasy

Army APCs fall back, when they come under fire from Tabbaneh, they use rocket propelled granades, and heavy machine guns. So the soldiers run for their lives, because they do not get the proper orders to shoot back.
