Bomb Causes Extensive Damage to Sarafand Liquor Store

An explosion ripped through a liquor store in Sarafand in the South overnight, causing $30,000-worth of damages, the shop’s owner said Thursday.

Ahmed Ali Hamdan told Voice of Lebanon radio station (93.3) that the bomb that targeted his shop around 2:30 am weighed 400-500 grams of TNT.

“This is a terrorist act that targets the country,” he said.

“They want to drive us out the country," Hamdan told Agence France Presse. "I opened the shop 17 years ago and I have never had problems with anyone.”

The bomb created a huge crater and damaged the windows of nearby shops.

The Internal Security Forces threw a tight security dragnet around the area and launched an investigation.

Last month, an explosion tore through Tyros restaurant in the southern city of Tyre, causing heavy material damage.

The attack came a few days before New Year's Eve and was the third of its kind targeting alcohol-friendly restaurants in Tyre in the past few months.

The people who are perpetrating these attacks can only have political cover. They are becomming common practice these last months, and our inferior minister does not seem concerned...

Poor Lebanon...

I don't think there is jame3a islamiya or salafis in Sarafand/Tyre. Everyone knows who actually tightly controls the area. Let them at least be courageous and say it loudly that alcohol in the south is not allowed!!! bunch of extremists chicken shit

the filthy zionist information war department are making of an incident a national crisis and eluding to the involvement of our glorious resistance in these silly acts. These are mere halucinations and will not succeed.

Nabatieh, Tyre, Sarafand..., God bless the Islamic resistance in Lebanon for reviving it's 1980's oldie but goody of blowing up liquor stores.
I hope that next we will witness a resurgence in the also once popular saintly pass time of throwing acid on skimpy dressed undignified women, weather permitting of course.

MarTadella my fellow Shiite brother , have you noticed that non of the Sunni Christians have yet to spot your backhanded insult of using an Italian cold cut like it was a Christian saint's name ? Maybe it's because drinking alcohol and listing to music make their mind slow , lucky we don't have that problem . Anyways I crack up every time I see you using it very clever and sneaky ! Keep up the good work .

@mfawaz. You seem to be approving this "glorious resistance" against alchool. so if i understand right, you are "resisting" alchool and skimpy dresses.
You will spend your life resisting, because alchool and human skin's appeal are one of God's gifts to man, and you will get nowhere with your misplaced resistance. Even inside Iran, private booze parties with scantily dressed women thrive despite 30 years of repressive Mullah's efforts. So cut this bigotry, enjoy life, join the party, and if you want to help, instead of bombing out honest commerces, why dont u get involved in a campaign of responsabilisation against OVERdrinking, against underage drinking, against drinking and driving? If you cant do that, try to accept the other's right to enjoy themselves. If u cant even do that, lebanon is not for you. sorry. Lebanon is a place of tolerance. Even Skip Iran. they drink there too. Try Kaboul.... or better for you Kandahar. maybe you'll find happiness there.
Cheers buddy

One of the sayings that have left a profound impact on humanity is attributed to sweat-a-della, and I quote:"scientific thinking is the product of the brain, a finite and organic cluster of cellular matter. this is where the brain's capacities fail to rationalize the infinity of the universe. we can only be awed by the sheer immensity and praise the unfathomable reason behind it (be it, god, allah, krishna or the energizer bunny)."

@jabal amel.
you were often right brother concerning the filth south. but in this case, the filthy zionist war department has nothing to do. sorry.
And yes. this is a national crisis. Because our politicians should move hell to punish the criminals who did this act.
Because this act is an act of aggression on what lebanon is built on. Tolerance. It is an act of grand treason similar to spying for our filthy entity to our south.

Default-user-icon Benito Fassolini (Guest) 12 January 2012, 16:55

Yeah profile, why are you quoting and promoting MarTadella despite him being an imbecile. But the little feller seems to like it, so never mind forget I said anything.

Missing elielebnan 12 January 2012, 17:02

It's ok for certain people to oppose drinking, it's their right. It's not ok for them to enforce their will on others as long as Lebanon is a multi-confessional society.

We really need moderate Muslims to take up this fight within their society. We also need the Lebanese govt to assume their responsibility and apply the law equally across the Land. Elie
