The Arab Democratic Party handed on Wednesday the army intelligence tapes showing the vehicle used by assailants to open fire on the house of Rifaat Eid.
Several unidentified suspects opened fire at Eid's residence in the northern city of Tripoli around midnight Tuesday, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Two people were injured on Wednesday during demining operations in southern Lebanon, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Youssef Shweikh, a resident of the southern town of al-Mansour, and Anwar Fayyad from Ansar had injuries in their faces, hands and feet when a cluster bomb exploded in the town of Tairharfa, it said.

The military institution announced on Wednesday arresting Abdullah Azzam Brigades official Jamal Daftardar in a town in a western Bekaa.
"After investigating the attack on an army checkpoint in (the southern city of) Sidon, the Intelligence Bureau arrested Daftardar after raiding an area in western Bekaa,” the army's communique detailed.

Caretaker Premier Najib Miqati has expressed confidence in Speaker Nabih Berri's ability to overcome the obstacle of the new government's policy statement.
“I am confident that Speaker Nabih Berri is capable through his wisdom and follow up to find the appropriate solution to this issue,” Miqati said in remarks to Lebanese and Kuwaiti journalists at the Lebanese Embassy in Kuwait on Tuesday night.

Head of al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc Fouad Saniora held on Tuesday series of meetings with leaders of March 14 alliance in a bid to speed up the formation of a nine months stalled cabinet and reach an agreement on the policy statement, An Nahar daily reported.
Saniora's meetings came in parallel with similar contacts between former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea and Phalange Party Central Committee Coordinator MP Sami Gemayel that stressed the "unity" of the March 14 forces' stances.

Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam has denied that the formation of the government had any links to the start of the trial in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri's assassination case on Thursday.
Salam confirmed in remarks to As Safir newspaper published on Wednesday that there was progress in the formation of the cabinet as soon as possible.

Speaker Nabih Berri has denied that he was questioned by al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc leader MP Fouad Saniora over the consultations on the government formation process.
Berri told local dailies published on Wednesday that he stressed to Saniora the importance of keeping discussions on the policy statement to the aftermath of the cabinet formation.

Washington on Tuesday hit out at Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for laying a wreath of flowers on the tomb of slain Hizbullah military commander Imad Mughniyeh during his latest visit to Beirut.
“The United States condemns the decision taken by Zarif ... to place a wreath at the grave of Imad Mughniyeh, a former leader of Lebanese Hizbullah responsible for heinous acts of terrorism that killed hundreds of innocent people, including Americans,” U.S. National Security Council Spokesperson Caitlin Hayden said in a statement.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati arrived Tuesday in Kuwait to represent Lebanon in the Second International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria, which will kick off Wednesday under the chairmanship of U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon.
“Following his arrival, Miqati headed to his residence location at the Bayan Palace,” his office said.

Several rockets and shells fell Tuesday on the Arsal border area of Khirbet Daoud during clashes inside Syrian territory.
Four artillery shells struck the area at 3:00 p.m., causing no casualties, Lebanon's National News Agency reported.
