Israel on Thursday promised Jordan that it would not allow Jews to pray at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque compound as scores of Jewish extremists tried to march to the flashpoint shrine.

With clashes raging in several Palestinian neighborhoods in annexed east Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with Jordan's King Abdullah II to personally reassure him there would be no changes to the decades-old status quo.

The International Criminal Court will not launch a prosecution over Israel's raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla in 2010 in which 10 Turkish activists died, despite a "reasonable basis to believe that war crimes were committed".

Chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said there would be no investigation leading to a potential prosecution because the alleged crimes, including the killing of 10 activists by Israeli commandos, were not of "sufficient gravity".

General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim stressed the importance of national unity in confronting the dangers facing Lebanon.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday condemned a deadly car attack in Jerusalem saying it was a "terrorist act" that "only raises tensions" in the tinderbox region.

Speaking ahead of a meeting with Jordan's foreign minister in Paris, Kerry told reporters: "That is not just a terrorist act and an ... atrocity, but it only makes matters worse. It only raises tensions."

Jordan recalled its ambassador to Israel on Wednesday and moved to file a U.N. complaint after police clashed with stone-throwing Palestinians inside the flashpoint al-Aqsa mosque compound.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said Israel's recent actions at the compound were "way beyond the limits."

A Palestinian slammed his car into pedestrians in Jerusalem on Wednesday, killing a border policeman and wounding nine other people in the second such attack in a fortnight.

Israel's Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz has warned that Israel would return Lebanon to the stone age if Hizbullah attacked the Jewish State.

“In order to avoid any doubt on the matter, (Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan) Nasrallah the cowardly braggart should know this: that option does not exist for us!,” Katz wrote on his facebook page, according to Israeli media.

The Israeli military displayed "shocking disregard" for civilian lives in Gaza during its devastating 50-day war on militants in the Palestinian territory, Amnesty International said in a report Wednesday.

Israel rejected the London-based rights group's findings, saying it produced "no evidence" to back up its claims in what was effectively "a propaganda tool for Hamas".

The Palestinians will submit a draft resolution to the U.N. Security Council later this month calling for an end date for Israeli occupation, a senior official said on Tuesday.

The text, which the Palestinians have been preparing for weeks, is expected to be vetoed by permanent member the United States.
