The military prosecutor on Friday charged in absentia two Lebanese and six Syrians for belonging to the Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front.

The state-run National News Agency said Judge Saqr Saqr issued the charges against the eight suspects accused of belonging to an armed terrorist organization with the aim of plotting terrorist attacks.

The Lebanese army will enforce in the upcoming hours a security plan in the eastern Bekaa valley following the successful implementation of the plan in the northern city of Tripoli.

According to al-Joumhouria newspaper published on Friday, the military will deploy in northern Bekaa, in particular, on the outskirts of Arsal and the neighboring villages such as Labweh, Hermel and al-Qassr.

MP Michel Murr is expected to meet with his former ally Free Patriotic Movement chief MP Michel Aoun “soon” after differences drew them apart five years ago, al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Friday.

Murr will visit Aoun in Rabieh “very soon” to revive their alliance in the Metn district and agree on the presidential elections, the daily said.

The Anti-Drug Bureau of the Internal Security Forces arrested Thursday evening a prominent fugitive in Beirut's southern suburbs.

“An exchange of gunfire erupted between a patrol from the Anti-Drug Bureau of the ISF's Judicial Police Department and dangerous fugitives in the al-Joura neighborhood in Dahieh,” MTV reported.

Four people were killed Thursday in two traffic accidents in the Hasbaya and Ashrafieh areas, including three members of the same family.

"A green Mercedes cab, which was being driven by Nawwaf Younis, fell off an eight-meter-high cliff on the Mimis public road in Hasbaya and landed on its roof, which resulted in the death of Nawwaf, his wife Taljeh Younis and his sister Layla,” state-run National News Agency reported.

The Syrian National Coalition demanded on Thursday putting an end to the “racist practices” against Syria's refugees in Lebanon.

"We call for putting an end to the racist practices, discrimination, oppression and even physical attacks of some Lebanese religious communities against Syrian refugees,” SNC said in a released statement.

State Security agents on Thursday thwarted an attempt to fire rockets at the northern Bekaa town of al-Nabi Othman, in the first such achievement by security forces in that region.

"State Security seized four rockets that were set to be fired from Arsal's outskirts towards al-Nabi Othman,” LBCI television reported.

Security forces on Thursday seized a stolen vehicle during its ongoing raids in the northeastern town of Arsal.

"The Arsal gendarmery has seized a gray Mercedes car in the Wadi Hmayyed region in the town,” the Internal Security Forces announced in a statement.

The so-called Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigade noted Thursday that “Hizbullah and Iran” are behind the security plan that the army is poised to implement in the Bekaa city, vowing to turn Baalbek into “a graveyard for the 'Crusader army' and Hizbullah.”

“Neither you nor Hizbullah are capable of removing the revolutionary pulse from our hearts, even if you try to implement the Iranian scheme under the pretext of 'the security plan in Baalbek',” the shadowy group said in a post on its Twitter account, addressing what it called “the non-Lebanese army.”

The army on Thursday raided several neighborhoods in the northern city of Tripoli in search of fugitives, as part of the security plan that troops started implementing earlier this week to end the state unrest and instability in the North.

The Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau also carried out raids in the northern Akkar town of Halba, and succeeded in arresting Sheikh Musheer Khodr, who is linked to radical cleric Omar Bakri, radio Voice of Lebanon (93.3) said.
