Prime Minister Saad Hariri praised the closing statement of the Middle East peace conference in Paris, which renewed the commitment to the two-state solution for the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Hizbullah on Sunday condemned the execution of three Bahraini men found guilty of killing three policemen, calling it "a crime" and "extrajudicial killing" that would undermine any chance for a political solution in Bahrain.
The Iran-backed group, which has been critical of the Bahraini government's crackdown on the Shiite-led uprising, said international silence toward what takes place in Bahrain must be met with the "largest solidarity campaign."

Speaker Nabih Berri called on Saturday for two general legislative sessions to be held on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19, the National News Agency reported on Saturday.

A Lebanese environmental movement condemned in a statement on Saturday what it described as the “extermination of seagulls."

A task force from the Information Branch of General Security in Mount Lebanon arrested two Syrian nationals for having terror links and planning to carry out attacks in Lebanon, the National News Agency reported on Saturday.
One of the suspects, H.Kh, was arrested in the Baabda district for having links to the Islamic State extremist group, and communicating with an IS leader with the intention of carrying out terror acts in Lebanon, added NNA.

The body of a dead infant was found early on Saturday in a waste container southeast of Beirut, the National News Agency reported on Saturday.
The body of the baby, who was assumed to be less than a year old, was found in a plastic bag in a garbage container in Filmon Wehbe street in the Kfarshima area, NNA said.

Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea seemed pessimistic on the potentials that Lebanon's political parties reach common ground as for agreeing on a new electoral law that will govern the upcoming parliamentary elections, as he renewed rejection for the current 1960 law that governed the 2009 elections.
“Behind the scenes, there are some serious efforts among political parties in all directions in order to reach a new law before the month's end,” An Nahar daily quoted Geagea as saying on Saturday.

As political parties bicker to find a new electoral law that meets the approval of all factions, President Michel Aoun made a firm stance and assured that the upcoming parliamentary elections will not be held based on the current 1960 law and that a new law must be stipulated, al-Joumhouria daily reported Saturday.
The President's position is firm, and was reiterated in several occasions the most recent was during an interview with Al-Arabiya television that was recorded during his presence in Riyadh, where he said: “There is a Lebanese will to pass a new law and the debate is currently revolving around which law is the best for everyone,” added the daily.

President Michel Aoun is expected to visit Egypt before long for talks with President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, a trip that was purported to be part of his tour after Saudi Arabia and Qatar, but was postponed for pressing reasons, al-Joumhouria daily reported Saturday.
Cairo was planned to be the third destination for the President during his first trip abroad to Saudi Arabia and Doha. But, it was postponed due to al-Sisi's engagement in pre-scehduled meetings, added the daily.

State Military Prosecutor Judge Saqr Saqr charged two people on Friday with having links to the Islamic State extremist group, the state-run National News Agency said on Tuesday.
One of the suspects, a Syrian national already in custody, helped in recruiting individuals in favor of the IS, and inciting them to carry out terror attacks.
