Al-Rahi Travels to Jerusalem despite Barrage of Criticism

23 May 2014, 19:56

Phillipo... The Jewish Zionist homeland, is against Christians as much us it is against Muslims. The zionists have allowed the Jewish extremists to take over the government and allow "price tages" and other anti Christian and Muslim vandalism to happen without punishment. Christian and Muslim "Israelis" are allowed to be persecuted like apartied South Africa. Modern Zionist Israel is no different to the racist South African apartheid regime. They have tried to pretend to change with allowing Christians to join the IDF and placing house arrest Jewish extremist during the Pope's visit... But this is not enough to hide the truth about this racist country.

God bless the batrak... As much as they want to declare false problems with the Lebanese.... The truth is that most lebanese wish the batrak well... God spread cardinal Rahi, May the world be reminded that the truth about this city is not just Jewish or Muslim but Christian too. Jerusalem an international city for all!

Why not just organize a referendum to directly elect a Presidant? Save us from politicians and foriegn governments bargaining in back door rooms.

Earthquake Felt in Several Lebanese Regions

26 May 2014, 11:58

IBn libnan... Go stick a hundred chop sticks into the ground around your house and see what happens. No one can or has drilled into the "core of the earth" as this would cause molten iron to spew out. My farts have just as much to do with earthquakes as the oil drilling in the Mediterranean does. As FT says, it's the ever changing and moving tech plates that are the sole cause of earthquakes (and maybe the Maronites as well :)

eagledawn... everyone of that sect is lawless? They handed him in. There is much lawlessness in Lebanon. From both sunni and shiite sects... some are even Maronite catholic, orthodox Christian, Melkite catholic and druze. Vast majority are from the 2 former sects mentioned yes, but your problem and that of many lebanese is that we only see sects and not citizens.

Yes, the bekaa is like the wild west of the usa 100 years ago. So too is tripoli and other impoverished areas with high youth unemployment. This is the problem... high youth unemployment and impoverished areas are easy grounds for crime and gang recruitment... just as it is anywhere else in the world.

Pope Francis is a member of saint francis of assisi order. This is why he called himself Pope Francis. They devote themselves to the poor and disenfranchised. The Pope's visit to Palestine and Israel would inevitably highlight the injustice of the israeli occupation of palestine and its people. It was not a palestinian propaganda construction of these images... it was carefully organised by the Pope.

I believe that most israelis are not the racist zionists that controls the Israeli state. But this is a racist state that believes they are the chosen people and are more important humans than those that are not jewish. This is the fundamental definition of racism... They are more important than the Palestinians because of their race and religion. This is fascism on the scale of nazis and other far right ideologies including extremist muslims!

The whole of Lebanon isn't impoverished. Lebanon has a GDP of 42billion and per capita (PPP) of $15,000/ per citizen. That's similar to turkey and better than Serbia. Most of this monies is distributed between 22000 individuals divided equally between Muslims and Christians ("a troubled legacy in Lebanon"Gulf news). However there are areas of Lebanon that this money doesn't touch. Forget about the Palestinians, but in tripoli, beka and Southern Lebanon. Do you remember what they called the southern suburbs in the 70s? They were the belt of misery that came from the south. Being bombed weakly by Israel. Hezbollah is helping them escape from getto poverty but who do they then thank and follow? In tripoli, who is helping them? Some help from Harris and co but not enough. So what happens? These unemployed youth are easy targets for extremist gangs. The same as anywhere in the world were there is high unemployment and a getto mentality.

Replace gangs with sectarian militias and u have Lebanon. If u deny their is a Sunni extremist problem then u deny half the problem in Lebanon.... U can't just blame everything on Hezbollah. You justify every attack on the LAF as the result of Hezbollah?

I don't like saud Hariri.... He is Saudi born and raised. He has never lived a day in his life in Lebanon before his father was killed. He is an mp and hasn't stepped foot in Lebanon since he was disposed from office. But if he comes back and becomes pm with aoun as president and this saves Lebanon from the rubbish tip than I will be happy to see him back for the sake of Lebanon.

Phillipo...having token Arabs in some places of authority is as significant as the black police in south Africa's apartied regime. The also had some blacks that were "allowed" to live amount them... They were very lucky and I'm sure their population also increased. How many of the increased 130,000 Christian population were from the 5000 South Lebanese sla? How many are the church clergy and pilgrims population? Can a non Jew become an Israeli citizen? Simple question? Tolerating and embracing someone as a citizen are very different things. Bibi is not Yitzac Rabin. If Rabin wasn't killed by a Zionist extremist, than maybe we would be having this conversation over a beer in Haifa or byblos?

Before 1947 creation of Israel... 30% of Palestine and modern day Israel was Christian... Now what is it? 2% of the population of the holy land? Is this because of the Palestinians? Do you reject the notion that Zionist Jews are against Christian control of the Christian holy sites? Are you against the idea of old Jerusalem being an international city for all religions?
