Pope Vows to 'Embrace Poorest' at Grand Inauguration

19 March 2013, 15:36

mckini... the new Pope is a Jesuit. Jesuits follow the saint Francis of Assisi. Hence the name Pope Francis. He is the first pope to take that name. The Jesuits are the lest political. The jesuits take a vow of poverty. their mission is to help the poor and underprivileged. There are very few jesuit bishops or cardinals because of this. This man use to ride a bicycle or the bus to church... refusing the limo provided to archbishops. his appointment to the post of bishop to rome, the seat of saint peter, whom christ told will be the rock on which he would built his church... is a huge symbolic gesture!

he is a shy man, and if you truly listen to what he says, you will be impressed with his humility and genuine love for all man.

i think he will be one of the greatest to lead the church.

Qahwaji: Past 2 Days Witnessed Worst Security Tension in 8 Years

19 March 2013, 16:00

geha... always happy and willing to blame and demonise the lebanese army. the one true defender of all lebanon and its people. the only lebanese institution that is truly non sectarian. the same thing happened in the 70s with the palestinians and its happening now because of the syrians! The same people siding with foreigners against the defenders of the Watan! Unite with the lebanese army or promote war amongst its people! this is the true and honest question of treason!

true, but what history are you looking at? No one except "God" is perfect and all man are sinful or imperfect... but what are you comparing your criticism to? a mufti or ayatollah? a politician or some other leader, movement or religion?

What other seat has the same intense scrutiny and publicised opposition?

what does the current and recent Pope say or preach that is so offensive?

Activists: Assad's Forces Damage Mosque that Sparked Revolt

15 April 2013, 08:30

Didn't they suicide bomb a mosque in Damascus a few weeks ago, killing dozens of worshipers because the mufti was pro Assad? i wonder if they released a statement then?

Gemayel: Syrian Refugees Have Become Threat to Lebanon

15 April 2013, 19:07

I repeat my previous comments... Replace the palestinian refugees with "syrian". The palestinian refugees were originally welcomed as brothers and sisters who were in need. They then armed themselves and began attacking lebanon's neighbour. Battles between the Lebanese army and the refugees began, with the major Sunni Lebanese movements siding with the refugees against the republic of Lebanon. The psp, sided with the foreigners and Sunni against the Lebanese "watan" army. Civil war eventually erupted between the refugees, their local Sunni and druze supporters, against the Lebanese army backed by the christains!
Replace the palestians with Syrians and we have our selves round two!
Nothing has been learnt and death and destruction will follow. the countries that support this war will benifit from lebanons economic destruction.Cue the gulf states and Israel.Oil pipes and refineries, banking and tourism!

U.S. Hails 'Close' U.S.-Lebanese Ties, Failure of 'Enemies of Democracy'

18 April 2013, 18:20

Lebanese closeness to the U.S. has nothing to do with washinton d.c.

The Lebanese are naturally close to those that are democratic and have "western values". But let's not forget that the u.s. allowed Syria to occupy Lebanon in 1990 against French objections! They are the ones that will sell anyone out benefits them currently!

They allowed Israel to invade and destroy Lebanon and then allowed Syria to invade and destroy the whole of the republic of lebanon in 1990 so they could build a coalition against Iraq.

So excuse us Lebanese if we laugh at your meaningless, worthless comments... My 1 year old's comments has more meaning and believable than Kerry's!

Israel's Army to Stop Using White Phosphorus

27 April 2013, 15:31

Commendations to the IDF. Only after their war crimes in their last gaza war for them to obide by international law. Phosphorus ammunition has been banned in urban areas for decades. last I knew, gaza is the most heavily populated area on the plant earth.

Next for their considerstion are cluster bombs.

Military Institution Faces Threat of Paralysis over Vacancies

27 April 2013, 19:15

Fake Thomas...we agree then that the army should crush those that are calling the Lebanese towards jihad.

The last true military president was Fouad chehaab. General Aoun was caretaker prime minister. I don't suffer from your self diagnosed "aounesia" or "Aounzimers". I know of his premiership and the circumstances that surrounded him. I remember the popular and historic stances he took that were strongly opposed by Syria, ksa, Israel and the USA. I do not compare general Aoun with general Fouad chehaab.

But we seam to agree that Lebanons strongest period was during General Fouad Chehaab's presidency and we need such strong leadership now!

Report: Six Hizbullah Fighters Killed in Qusayr Battles

27 April 2013, 19:43

Do you know where Qusayr is? Do you know what has happened there and what is happening? From your first line of comment it seams you don't care!

These are Shiite villages in Syrian side of the Lebanese border that is being attacked by the Syrian "rebels" aka salafist. What strategic position would they hold except their sect? Shiite villagers are defending themselves, not attacking, and being helped by Hezbollah. Why would this cause a call for jihad by the Sidon and tripoli salafist leaders? Assir is calling for young Sunni men from lebanon to jihad in Qusayr, not against Bashar el Assad and the Syrian Ba'ath dictatorship but against Shiites in Qusayr! Who is defending their families and land, and who will "Allah" grant victory to?
