why not send him back to where he was born? why do they send them to Lebanon?
where was he born? it doesn't mention that in the article. it mentions he was born in 1943... maybe its because his village was wiped off the map and renamed yir caboot.
I love the use of the term "Independent Christians". should more accurately read dependant Christians. Dependant on Hariri and the PSP for their election.
I cant say I agree completely with the orthodox law. i think it is a step in the wrong direction towards sectarian rather than secular state. however those "independent Christians" are the example of the marginalization of the Christian vote. Their loyalty is to the the hand that feeds them. They know very well they have no chance being elected under this proposed law. Some sort of hybrid law of proportionality is a fairer law and one used in most secular democracies.
or... they send weapons to support the syrian governments battles against foreign and domestic terrorists, and they also send humanitarian aid to those displaced.
how much aid is being received by the syrian refugees in Lebanon from those supporting the "rebels", sending them weapons and fighters from qatar, saudi arabia, tunisia, libya and turkey?
Not the last 10 years, but 60 years. Occupiers and oppressors will always be resisted! Whether it will take another 20 years or 200 years, history teaches us that they will either be destroyed or if sanity prevails, Israel will stop being a racist, fascist country and through international and secular non Zionist, Jewish pressure, they will relent and search for true inclusive peace on the same scale as south Africa's transition from Apartied.
As for Syria transferring weapons to hezballah, nothing has changed and every weapon is needed by the Syria government... So why would they transfer them? This threat is just another in their long history of threats to attack Lebanon and side with the fsa. If Russia does choose to provide Syria with s-300 missiles than it will be nothing more than empty threats!
Lebanon is nothing but a puppy dog to these countries that then give small doggie treats for being good and taking the punishment and orders from their masters and friends!
These western countries are happy that a christain is the figure head of a country that is controlled by foriegn owned warlords. They can then praise week efforts and justify Israel's never ending violations of Lebanon's sovereignty. As long as israel doesn't bomb their fat and party hard "peacekeepers".
Phoenix, I, my children and my children's children will never be allowed to forget what syria and the baath party of hafez el assad did to lebanon and our families. Not that we can never forgive but never forget. Bashar is not his father but his ruling Syrian dictatorship is. But how many of those original dogs are still around? Abdul khaddam the biggest dog and criminal is with the Syrian rebels!
Let's forget about Lebanon for a second coz this is about Syria! If you were Syrian, who would you support? Unless you are a fanatical Sunni jihadi, it's now unlikely you support the rebels. I don't deny the original legitimate civilian protesters that started 3 years ago, but this is a very different animal... Where are the archbishops from Aleppo? Now we know that the protests in Homs 3 years ago that chanted and held signs that "the christains to Beirut and the alawites slaughtered" is the true rebellion.
Isn't that the joke? Someone questioned God why he chose to bless the people ofLebanon with such a beautiful and wonderfull country? And God replied, wait to you see the neighbours I've given them.
I try not to comment on articles relating to Samir Geagea but this is a very sad and desperate attack on what promised to be a rare time when Maronites and other christains were coming together. Whether they could all succeed in the orthodox law or not, it was nice to see an attempt to unite and try to work together. I wonder what the kataeb's response to this will be?
Let's not put the kataeb in the same boat yet. It is yet to be seen their response as they have so far refused to approve this hybrid law.
I personally didn't support the orthodox law as it was. Too sectarian and divisive. We need to move towards a secular state. However sometimes you need to take a step back to take 2 forward. It could of been amended it to appease those objecting through debate. But to unilaterally sign up to a law that has not be discussed by their "partners", the LF has also gone on the attack. All major christain parties including the LF, had agreed to the orthodox law and it was even supported by Hezbollah. There could have been a negotiated hybrid law but for some reason Geagea has reacted in this way!
