When Hezbollah begrudgingly agreed with the tribunal, they thought they had covered their tracks pretty well. No way, they thought, can anyone track down the killers. It was supposed to be airtight. But modern forensics (in information technology, crime scenes analysis, DNA, etc) is an awesome science. Now, the only way this discredited group of thugs can counter real science is by riling up gullible followers using smokescreens.
Usually, murderers, rapists, scoundrels and thugs take issue with the conduct of a court when it indicts them. It is not surprising. Look how Mladic, the killer of Muslims, is now refusing to cooperate with the international court in the same way Hezbollah wants to do. Yugoslavia was made to deliver this criminal, when their government discovered it had no choice. It took years, but justice was served.
Kudos to all those who stand for justice and for an independent Lebanon.
With the tribunal breathing down on their necks and the Syrian regime crumbling, Hezbollah is now like a wounded animal. Dangerous and unpredictable. You can see it in the behavior of their cronies.
The four Hezbollah operatives operatives indicted by the STL, if still alive, should head for the hills, or turn themselves in. They are in great danger from their own leaders, who may want to silence them for good.
Bizzaro world is a society that lives by a code where Up is Down, Ugly is Beautiful, Truth is a Lie, Stupid is brilliant, and so on…
Hezbollah and its followers are trying to turn Lebanon into a Bizzaro World:
- Killers are victims of a conspiracy, but dead victims are guilty
- Democracy is when you take over the government by force of arms, but those who disagree with you peacefully are spies
- Armed criminal thugs with guns pointed at other Lebanese are neutral, but unarmed Lebanese who demand Justice in international courts are politicized
- An unstable man with history of psychological issues dying to be president is a beloved leader, but his antithesis, who stands for total independence from Iran and the Assad hoodlums is a traitor
- Killers ensure peace and stability, but justice brings about civil strife
- “Mladic is not a monster,” (said a clueless dimwit on this board as a hyperbole to defend Mladic), but the court is corrupt… this one is plain f-ing stupid!
The Iranian/Hezbollah/Assad government is in for a big shock if it deviates from the script laid out by the international community for justice. Lebanon will become like Iran and Syria, an international outlaw with huge implications on the Lebanese economy. You Thought things were bad the last few years with M18 being the only adult and M8 the hostage taking spoiler? Wel, you ain't seen nothin yet.
“Why, your honor…look-who-benefited-from------------------“(insert your favorite conspiracy).
Bogus argument used by those who get caught, since the “beneficiaries” of political assassinations are usually more than one party, including the accused. And when you get caught, it usually means you are in trouble. So, the argument of “why would I do this to myself?” is just stupid. It happens every day. Robbers, murderers, thieves, get caught where they thought they could get away with it.
I agree with the notion that the court will decide. Not Hezbollah (the accused).
Members of the Sunni, Alawi, Christian, Shiaa, Druze, Jews and all other sects and religions want to live in dignity just like everyone else in the world. The brave people of Syria will overcome the injustice thrust upon them by a brutal dictator, whose regime caused irreparable damage in Lebanon.
When Assad is finished, Syria will ultimately emerge as a modern secular nation and Lebanon will benefit from it. Dictatorships are going to the ash heap of history.
Thanks for a nice post (except for the part about the “monkeys” ).
You’d be amazed how many dreamers from the region with different backgrounds have excelled when given opportunities to leverage their intelligence, skills, work ethics and motivation. Placed in some of the highest positions within NASA in the United States, they decide the vision and roadmap for the future space exploration for all humanity, and to the earth science missions to learn about our own planet. Egyptians, Jordanians, Lebanese, Syrian, UAE nationals, and so on do, working side by side with colleagues from all over the progressive world and making wonders as they are given the opportunity and placed in the right environment.
